If the microwave exhaust fan is not circulating air properly, there could be an issue with the grease filter. A dirty filter will cause your microwave to run less efficiently and can alter the taste or smell of your food. Filters should be changed every six months for maximum performance. These silver, aluminum filters are sold separately, and are approximately 13 3/8 inches long x 5 7/8 inches wide. Measure your current filter to assure correct replacement. Check your grease filters regularly for particles and grease buildup to see if cleaning is necessary. If there is any visible damage to the filter, it should be replaced straight away.

This is a package of 2 filters. The charcoal filter is used in microwaves to remove food odors from the air. If your filter is damaged or strong odors are coming from your microwave, it is best to replace this part. The only tool needed for this repair is a Phillips screwdriver. First, remove screws at the top of microwave to access the filter. Next, remove filter and insert new filter by pushing it all the way back, so the edges hit the two tabs. The front edge of the filter should rest at the bottom of the cavity. Make sure to replace the grill after installing the new filter. Remember to unplug your microwave from the power source before the installation process. This part is metallic and measures about 12 inches wide and 6 inches deep.

Range Hood FILTER
PartSelect Number PS3494894
Manufacturer Part Number W10355450
This filter, commonly referred to as a range hood filter, is an original manufacturer-sourced part designed for use with range hoods. It is responsible for capturing and filtering grease, smoke, and other emissions generated during cooking. The filter traps these contaminants, to help maintain a clean and healthy environment. Over time, the filter can become saturated, or damaged, rendering it ineffective. A worn down or dirty filter will result in poor air quality, unpleasant odors, and inadequate airflow. You can find the filter under the range hood. Remove the fasteners holding the old filter in place and pull the filter out from its housing. Thoroughly clean the housing and align the new filter with the mounting brackets before securing it in place with the fasteners. It is recommended to replace the range hood filter to extend the longevity of your range and maintain good air quality in the kitchen. Each order includes 3 filters for your convenience.

New Range Hood not vented
This was an easy repair. The range hood was a GE 30" in Slate. Bypassing the venting option required installation of the charcoal filter. At first, the filter installation holes did not line up perfectly. But the filter is pretty much infinitely adjustable by rotating the adjustable ring. Note: the shipped part (charcoal filter) comes with no instructions for installation....but it is easily figured out by adjusting the rotating ring. The only tool needed is a #2 Phillips screw driver. An extremely easy repair, save yourself the extra money for professional installation. Read more...
