The Mandrell Assembly, or Jackshaft Housing Assembly includes the housing, shaft assembly, bearing, and nut. It will require a screw driver, pliers, socket set and wrench set to install, and its installation is rated as "Easy". This silver, metal assembly is used to secure the mower's deck and is driven by a belt which turns the cutting blade underneath. It attaches on the deck of the mower. If broken, damaged or worn it should be replaced. You'll know if this is the case if there is a stretching sound, grinding sound, or vibration.
