Hi Larry, thank you for reaching out. Firstly, unplug the appliance power cord. Then open the oven door to access the glass tray. Just remove the glass tray, and pull the turntable coupler straight upward. Now install a new turntable coupler, align it with a motor shaft, and position the glass tray on the coupler. We hope this information helps!

How do you replace the Drive Motor for this model ?
For model number JVM1650wh01
PartSelect logo
Hi Larry, thank you for reaching out. We would recommend following these general instructions to replace the drive motor, part number PS237772: First, turn off the power supply to the unit. Remove all the screws securing the bottom panel and lower it. Disconnect the wire harness from the drive motor, and then remove the mounting screws. Rotate the motor clockwise to detach it. To install the new motor, insert the motor shaft into the drive coupler. Rotate the motor anti-clockwise, and insert the mounting screw. Reconnect the harness wire to the drive motor and put the bottom panel back on. We hope this information is useful!

Original Turntable Coupler shaft broke in two pieces
I was able to simply lift the broken turntable coupler from the bottom of the microwave. The smaller broken piece fell inside the body of the microwave. I tried unsuccessfully to retrieve it. When the new part arrived, I simply snapped it in place. Everything works good as new!

Microwave turntable stopped turning
1. Turned off circuit breaker for microwave.
2. Removed screws holding the bottom cover of the microwave; cover is hinged at the back, so it dropped open and stayed out of the way.
3. Unplugged turntable motor and removed screws that hold turntable motor in place.
4. Pushed broken pieces of the plastic turntable coupler out of the way (hole for motor's axle not big enough to remove them).
5. Put turntable coupler into hole in bottom of microwave interior, held it in place while putting the motor axle into it from below.
6. Replaced screws holding turntable motor in place, plugged in motor's electrical connector.
7. Closed bottom cover and replaced screws that hold it in place.
8. Switched on microwave circuit breaker.

Because the turntable coupler was broken, the turntable wouldn't rotate.
I simply removed the broken coupler and snapped the replacement part into place, being careful to line up the slot on the new coupler. Just a note: the troubleshooter guide on the website was a great help in determining how to fix the problem. The comment section let me know this a simple fix anyone could do.

Turn table stopped rotating.
I tried to install the new part several times, but it didn't work. So I used a pencil to move things around down the shaft. After that the new part went in and now my microwave is doing what I need it to do.
