This door interlock switch is for microwaves.
Door interlock switch prevents the microwave from starting when the door is open.
Because the microwave shielding and interlock switches must be properly tested following the door interlock switch replacement, a service technician should install this part.

Microwave Door Interlock Switch
The product works. Although initially I had an issue with it. I had bought all 3 Door Switches. There were no labels telling me which switches was the lower and which was the upper. I went through a couple fuses because of that. Can you add a description saying it is a upper of lower switch.

Ordering a Part Made Easy!
The posted diagrams of parts made the process so easy with identifying the part I needed to replace. All it took was my model number and the rest was simple. PartSelect was the right place to come to, very competitive price, items in stock and very fast shipping. Will be doing business here when needed for sure. A+ rating!

Having the part on hand saved on repair costs
After researching my microwave door switch malfunction online, I was fairly certain which parts would be needed to repair it, so ordered these in advance and notified the repair guy when they arrived. He had the microwave up and running in twenty minutes, and said he appreciated having exactly what he needed available when he got there, so he didn't have to make two trips. Cost of the parts was quite reasonable and the one visit from the repair guy was only $60, so I was very pleased! The microwave is running again like new.

Good luck...
It seems that there are two switches on the upper mechanism. As well, the mechanical actuator didn't come with all of the parts. Both problems are undoubtedly Whirlpool's problem (recall poor documentation).

The close door warning kept coming on and the microwave would not run
Don't waste your time with other parts stores online. Partselect sells quality parts and they arrived 2 days early. I purchase a door switch from another online store and the switch was defective.

Door switch inconsistent operation for Open/Close sensing.
Ordered top & bottom micro-switches and mounting plate parts. Internet reviews could not find specifics if the issue was due to a top/bottom or combination of micro-switch or mounting plate failure. Pulled the plug. Removed the top vent assembly cover held in by 2 Phillips screws inside the vent. Removed the control panel held in by 1 P

Used a Torx bit to remove the door switch mounting plates at the front and pulled the plates through the opening from the control panel. Documented the wire color code connections, the top plate uses 2 micro's with one using both the closed & open contact. Installed the respective micros on the mounting plates and worked backwards with the wiring and removal steps. Once completed, the open/close sensing has worked every time.

Maybe 19 times out of 20, when we open the door the light doesn't turn on. When this is happening, the microwave won't work. You type in the cook time, hit start and it beeps at you. If you leave the door open for a few minutes the light will come on and then you can use it. Does this sound like a door switch?

Hi Jason,
Thank you for your question. If your microwave is not coming on, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the fuse, the door switches, the light socket, the interlock support and the interlock. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hello Monica, thank you for inquiring. For this symptom you will want to consider either the 3 Terminal Door Switch part PS10057151, the Door Switch part PS2361111, or the Top Interlock Support part PS11745301 for your model. We hope this helps.

Which door switch do i need to replace if the unit doesn't recognize when the door is open or closed? The problem is intermittent, so i'm pretty sure it is the switch and not the fuse. I don't want to buy all the switches - i just need to know which one is the culprit - upper or lower?? thank you!
For model number KMHS120ESS-4
Hello Greg,
Thank you for your question. The door switch you need to replace for your model is under part PS10057151 for your model. Hope this helps!
Sometimes when you shut the door the light stays on, and the fan continues to run. You have to open and close it pretty hard to turn it off. Also if you don't close the door hard enough it says door not shut.

Microwave says door close when it is already closed? And fan seems to be running as though door is open?
For model number MMV4205FZ1
Hello Gina, Thank you for the question. This normally indicates one or more of the Door Switches are defective and will need to be replaced. We suggest testing the switches with a multi meter and check the continuity. We hope this helps.
I believe one or both of the door switches are not working properly, so i would like to replace both of them (top and bottom). The bottom one has two connections for wires and the top had three. Are there more than these two switches? What model numbers do i need to order from you? Thanks.

When i attempt to use the microwave i repeatedly get the message open/close door and when i do this the heating power is still not activated and the open/close message reappears. We have replace the mechanism in the door once already. Could this be the problem again?
For model number ywmh53520ch-0
Hi Don,
Thank you for your question. Here is some information from the Whirlpool website, that you may reference to try and resolve this issue, "If "Door" or "Open/Close" is appearing on your Whirlpool microwave display, there are things you can do to troubleshoot. If a message about the door appears in the display, the door has been closed for 5 minutes or more without the microwave oven being started. This occurs to avoid unintended starting of the microwave oven. Open and close the door, then start the cycle.
Next, check the follow things to make sure the door is closing correctly:
Check to make sure there is no soil build up on the door contact area
Remove all packing material from the Microwave. Be sure no packing material is blocking the door lock system.
If you have a counter top microwave, place the microwave oven on a flat and level surface that will not block the opening or closing of the microwave oven door.
Check that the cooking rack (if equipped) is not out of position and not allowing the door to close.
Close the door firmly." I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

So are there two door switches? One of each? It's easier to replace both or all three.
For model number WMH53520CS5
Hello Paul, Thank you for the question. The three switches are sold individually on this model. PartSelect Number: PS2361111, PartSelect Number: PS2361113 and PartSelect Number: PS10057151. Thank you for your inquiry, good luck with this repair!
The top door switch went over the center and the main breaker blew. I opened the front control panel and accessed the top switch to correct the problem with latch. After replacing everything, all is fine but when the door is opened it blows the breaker again. Is the problem in one of the door switches?
For model number YWMH31017AS1
Hello Bob,
Thanks for your question. This may be an issue with the wiring to the microwave or the circuit breaker itself, but if not, the door switches are definitely worth reviewing. Have a service technician test and replace the parts if needed as they can carry high amounts of electricity even with the microwave unplugged.
I hope this helps.
I replaced the bottom door switch and it still does not come on. The light on the inside stays on all the time, and also the turntable moves when the door is open. Can you help me?
For model number AMV2307PFS0
Hello Albert,
Thanks for your question. It could instead be one of the other door switches causing this issue, as there are three total for your model. Only a licensed technician should attempt to install or test these parts, as they can contain an electrical charge even after the microwave is unplugged.
I hope this helps.
