Interlock: It says to see 12a on the diagram. There is no 12a. It only shows 12.
For model number MH53520CS-2W

Hi Shirley, Thank you for the question. Very sorry for the confusion. Item #12 on the diagram is the top #12 on the diagram and #12A on the parts list is the bottom #12 on the diagram. Hope this helps!

When i close the door and try to start it it says door i thing the bottom latch is not catching so what do i need to replace?
For model number WMH31017AS0

Hi Ron,
Thank you for your question. I would suggest testing your micro switches with a multi meter to see which one of them you will need to replace. They should all show 0 ohms if they are working correctly. If they do not then you will need to replace that switch. Good luck with your repair.

It appears that the top support interlock and the bottom interlock support are priced out differently. What is the difference between the two supports that would make them price out differently? Thank you.
For model number WMH53520CS2

Hi Shirley, Thank you for the question. We base the prices for the parts on the manufacture prices and discount down from there. Whirlpool does not state a reason for the price difference. Hope this helps!

My door won't close properly so microwave won't run. If you close it, the light stays on and it acts like it is running.
For model number Whirlpool WMH1162XVS1

Hello Barb, thank you for contacting us. For this symptom, there are a few parts that may provide a fix. You may want to try replacing the Top Interlock Support part PS11745301, the Interlock part PS11749178, or the Interlock Spring part PS1964350. We hope this helps.

Won’t turn on but if open/shut door and push clear many times it will work again. Is this the part I need?
For model number MMV5220FZ2

Hello Jim, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Door Switches first to check for continuity with a multi meter. If the switches are good, you may have a defective Control Board. We hope this helps.

Sometimes when you open the door the light does not come on so when you close the door it won't start.
And sometimes if you wait long enough with the door open the light comes on and then you can use it.

We put the new parts into our microwave to fix it not working, the interlock support and cam plate were bad. It is working now, sort of. It will come on now but sounds like something is rubbing. Has anyone else had this trouble and what do we look for?

Door switch inconsistent operation for Open/Close sensing.
Ordered top & bottom micro-switches and mounting plate parts. Internet reviews could not find specifics if the issue was due to a top/bottom or combination of micro-switch or mounting plate failure. Pulled the plug. Removed the top vent assembly cover held in by 2 Phillips screws inside the vent. Removed the control panel held in by 1 Phillip screw at the top vent assembly area. Lifted control panel upward to release the catch and moved it off to the side - didn't disconnect any leads. Used a Torx bit to remove the door switch mounting plates at the front and pulled the plates through the opening from the control panel. Documented the wire color code connections, the top plate uses 2 micro's with one using both the closed & open contact. Installed the respective micros on the mounting plates and worked backwards with the wiring and removal steps. Once completed, the open/close sensing has worked every time.

Part Worked Great
The support is needed to replace the switch as the locking tabs are weak and often snap off easily.
Also, pay close attention to the torque (t-10) screw when threading it into the new support bracket as the switch needs to be in the closed when the door is closed.

I have used PartSelect before and have been happy in the past. The diagrams they have make it easy to find the part you need. What I am unhappy about is what they are now charging for parts. I only got from PartSelect what I couldn’t confirm was the right part from Amazon. Bought three switches from Amazon for $5 with free shipping. Those same switches from PartSelect would have cost me well over $30 as one of the switches alone cost $25 and then you have to pay for shipping. Hope Amazon will do a better job in the future identifying correct parts.
