Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This replacement haliant surface element is designed for use with flat-top ranges and cooktops, positioned beneath the glass surface to supply consistent heat to the cooking area. Measuring approximately 12 inches in diameter, it provides reliable performance for a variety of cooking tasks. If the burner fails to light when activated, the surface element may be faulty and require replacement. Installation involves disconnecting power to the appliance, removing the screws securing the cooktop, lifting the glass surface, and replacing the element by disconnecting the wires and securing the new unit in place. This component is sold individually and is compatible with select models of electric ranges and cooktops.

Easy to change.
I found the element easy to change but didn't understand that I didn't need to pull the stove out of the counter to raise the glass top. However, it still worked well as it gave us a chance to clean around the stove. The element worked just like it used to. My wife was very happy for having all three elements working that makes home canning much easier when sealing bottles.

Piece of cake
It was a perfect match. Took longer putting glass top back in place than the new burner.

One of the heating elements wasn’t working.
I just watched the video that was on the website. It showed in detail how to replace the heating element. After watching it I was able to remove the cooktop, replace the heating element and put it all back together. The only issue I had was getting the cooktop loose but once I did everything else was easy.

Center Burner of a triple element wasn't working
Been procrastinating putting in the new element but decided to do it yesterday even if it meant eating breakfast out. Twenty minutes after starting , breakfast was cooking, at home on the new element. Two screws out, switch wires, snap on retainers, replace two screws and you're done!

The smallest ring on this 3 ring element does not heat up. Do i need to replace the entire element or is there another consideration?
For model number PB970SP3SS
Hi Ann,
Thank you for your question. If the middle portion of the ring is not lighting up, then the entire element would need to be replaced. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I have a GE profile model PS978ST1SS. The smaller center element of the front right burner does not work. The other two elements on that burner work just fine. Before I call a service tech, do you have any idea on what the problem might be?

The smallest element of the 3 element burner does not work. Previous comments say to check the switch and the elements. I checked the 3 elements and do not find an open circuit. Where is the switch i should check other than in the control panel?
For model number PS978ST1SS
Hi Bill,
Thank you for your inquiry. There are no switches listed under you model number. You will need to check the touchpad and the electronic control board to see which one is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
