Washer won't spin - everything else works
Ran diagnostic check that machine will automatically perform if you push the right combination of buttons (see instructions tucked behind back panel of control panel) All Systems checked out OK. Took flat screwdriver pushed in the two tabs under the top where it meets the front. Top is hinged so just opened it up. Remove two screws holding front cover. Lift cover forward and up to remove. Loosen 1/2" nut that holds drive motor in position. Push motor toward tub, roll off belt. Take socket and remove bolt in center of clutch. Clutch pulls straight down to remove. Install new clutch. Use screwdriver to leverage tension on motor to put tension on belt, tighten bolt to hold motor in position with correct tension on belt. Install front cover. Lower lid. All done.

Belt Broke
Luckily, I found someone else with the same story, and read that you need the clutch assembly and the belt at the same time. One night when we started the washer, it made a metal seizing type squeal. There was smoke everywhere. After opening the washer, the belt burned through but the clutch had also seized which was the cause. Replaced both. Needle bearings were totally rusted. Must be leaking water somewhere. Just lift top, remove front cover (two screws inside the top). Prop up and secure washer. Loosen the motor bolt. Through the hole in bottom, fit socket to hex bolt on clutch. Our belt was already off as it broke in half. Remove clutch, slip new one on and make sure it goes all the way back on transmission. Place the one bolt back on. Two people are helpful here! Place new belt on grooves of motor pully (while person 2 holds the agitators still) and then work belt down and around clutch. Ours was a tight fit! Have a person pull back on motor as you tighten the one bolt you loosened. There is an in/lb rating on clutch bolt. Put washer back down and panel back together. Pretty easy repair to save tons on a new washer.
Ordered parts on a Friday at 3:05 pm, and they were delivered the next day! Excellent service!!! This saved our day!

machine would not function on "spin" cycle
Maytag repairperson suggested machine was not worth repairing. However, it was only 5 years old and still looked like new. I appreciate availability of this multi-function pulley ass'y from your firm. I removed the tub/spinner unit from machine. This made replacement much easier. Pulley was a little tricky to install. All the wiring is connected in harnesses and simple to re-install. The machine works great now and we are thrilled with it. Thanks again!

Is there a pulley that i can pull to put a new belt on?
For model number Fav9800wwa

Hello Adam, thank you for contacting us. To put that belt on you would loosen the bolt on the motor that adjusts the belt tension, put new belt on motor first and then slide over big pulley. It may be a tight fit. Hope this helps!
