Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This OEM Piston Ring is used to provide a seal between the piston and cylinder wall. It attaches around the piston, inside the groove. It will require a screwdriver, allen wrench, torx wrench and socket set and is rated as "Hard" to install. The part is silver, metal, and individually sold. If broken due to general wear/fatigue you will have poor compression within the cylinder, causing a loss of power. If broken, damaged or worn, the part should be replaced. Refer to your make, model, and diagram to ensure this is the correct part.

Inexpensive part for a tricky repair
After removing the motor from my leaf blower I was able to access the piston ring and replace it. Good idea to purchase the gaskets for your unit, some are reusable but others are destroyed in disassembly. Keeping the carb attached to the cylinder will save you some extra steps. You will need various hand tools and a good set of torx bits and allen wrenchs. A small impact driver speeds things up also. It is a tedious job but can be accomplished with worthwhile results. I found a you-tube video that helped with the repair. Take pictures as you go they come in handy. Keeping your hardware labeled and grouped helped. Good Luck!
