The stirrer fan cover in your microwave can be found on the roof of the microwave. It protects the fan from damage and debris. This fan cover is made of white plastic and is approximately 7.5 inches in diameter. Occasionally, the stirrer fan cover can melt, and become damaged. If you smell burning from your microwave or notice damage, the fan cover should be replaced. The stirrer fan cover is sold individually, and is an OEM part directly from the manufacturer.

The fan cover in the top of the microwave had a melted spot.
I used a flat screwdriver blade to push out the rivet. Then used the screwdriver to loosen the fan cover and gave it a little twist. It came out with no problem. There was some grease build up on the aluminum fan, so I cleaned it. I placed the clean fan into the new fan cover and put it back in place in the microwave. There are several no
... Read moretches to match up, and then I gave it a slight twist to secure the notches. Then, the new rivet was put into the hole and pushed to make it secure. Finished!
Simple fix. Prayed old off with flathead screwdriver. Installed new in less than 2 minutes.

Plastic cover had quarter size hole burned
Use a butter knife to pop small plastic pin out and turn to remove. Used the metal pinwheel from old one and placed it back up in the microwave. Never heard of this being possible, but it seems to happen per the website and many other comments.

Stirrer Fan Cover had burn holes
1. Removed the plastic rivet holding the stirrer fan cover in place. 2. Slipped a small pry bar under the cover to allow room to grip the cover and pull it out of its setting. 3. Removed the stirrer fan and placed in new cover. 4. Disposed of old rivet and cover. 5. Aligned new cover with rivet hole and pushed it

My Son -in- law did it, removed the pivot pin removed the Cover and fan blade by turning it counter clockwise , Then replaced fan blade and cover and turning it clockwise and replaced the pivot pin .

Melted hole in plate
Remove pin and shift old cover plate clockwise to release cover. Remove and insert fan into new cover and replace cover by inserting cover plate tabs and turning counter clockwise. Insert new pin to connect new cover plate.

Stirrer fan cover had hole melted in it.
Gently remove plastic rivet holding cover in place.Rotate cover slightly and pull down. Remove stirrer fan from old cover and place on new cover. Place cover back in microwave and rotate till rivet hole lines up and replace rivet. Done.

Can we used the microwave withough this part

My stirrer fan cover had a quarter-sized burn/bubble in it. I ordered a new one. When I took out the old fan and cover, I noticed a quarter-sized black mark/burn on the inside-top of the microwave, above where the silver fan is placed. Is this microwave still save to use with a new stirrer fan cover? There is no hole in the microwave, just a black mark.

We burned something in microwave while cooking. Can't get rid of smell. Can still smell burned smell coming out of it. How can i remedy this.

Hello David, Thank you for the question. You can try to fill a bowl with 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon white vinegar. Microwave it for 4-5 minutes and leave it with the door shut for 10-15 minutes. Steam will loosen smell-causing detritus stuck to the walls. After the waiting period, remove the bowl and wipe the inside of the microwave down with a paper towel.Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!
