Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
The timer controls most of the operations of the washer: water level, tub filling and emptying, length of cycles, and cycle setting sequences.

Timer will not advance washing cycle when set for full time in regular wash mode. If you set it for shorter time, it works fine. Also works fine on all time settings on other modes (ie: Delicate/ casual) little help please.
For model number MTW5870TWO
Hello Mike, thank you for your question. If the timer is not advancing on one cycle but others will work I would recommend . You can test the timer contacts for continuity with a multi-meter but you will require the electrical schematic to determine the correct terminals to check. You can also check the timer motor for continuity with the multi-meter as well. I hope this helps!

My Maytag washer fails to put water in the tank when i turn it on to fill up with water. If you wait a little bit it will start putting water in but you never know for certain whether it will or want.Does this sound like the timer to you?Once it starts working it will keep working load after load, but let it set over night and try to wash again the next morning and it will act up again.
Hi Joe,
Thank you for your question. Depending on the type of washer you have, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the water inlet valve, the lid switch, the selector and water temperature switches, the water level switch and the timer or electronic control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Washer will not fill completely. I have to keep restarting the cycle until the tub is filled. Will this part work for this problem?
For model number MTW5740TQ0
Hello Anita, thank you for contacting us. It does sound like the timer is shutting the washer down prematurely, you would need to replace it to fix this issue. Good luck with the repair!

My Maytag washer stops before advancing into the spin cycle. When i lift and drop drop she advances. I already replaced lid switch, that did not help. What could be the problem?
For model number MTW5870TW0
Hi Michael,
Thank you for your question. Then I would suggest checking parts like your clutch assembly and your direct drive. Parts that are used to spin your drum. Just to check to see if anything has worn down at all. If those parts are fine, you may have to take a look at your motor start capacitor or the motor itself being the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Washer will not start on any wash cycle. It will only run on spin cycles. Is this a problem with the timer?
For model number MTW5840TW0
Hello Gerald, Thank you for the question. If you can manually start a spin cycle but not a wash cycle, normally it is an indication the timer is defective and will need to be replaced. We hope this helps!

Washer timer. If I install a new timer, how can I set the control knob to the wash cycle so that the washer rotates thru all the cycles properly. part ps11748352
For model number MTW5630TQ1
Hello Terry, Thank you for the question. Once the new timer is installed, there is only one way to install the knob. You just need to line the hole in the back of the knob up with the Post from the timer and push it on into place. We hope this helps!

My machine does not complete the cycle, that is,it does not release water, the water remains.
For model number MVWC500VW1
Hi Marcelo,
Thank you for your question. If your washer does not drain, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the washer lid switch, the pump retainer, the drain pump, the motor, the motor start capacitor, the gearcase and the timer. Also, check the drain hose to see if it is clogged and to see if there are any kinks in it. We have included a link that you may reference on how to check some of these these parts. Once you have determined the part you need, please feel free to call customer service. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!
When I the pull timer knob, the washer does not fill in some of the cycles.
For model number MTW5700TQ0
Hi Dane,
Thank you for your question. If the washer is not filling with water on some of the cycles, the timer is one part to check. There are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the water inlet valve, the water level pressure switch, the lid switch and the water inlet syphon. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

When the wash agitation cycle ends and the tub begins to drain i hear the clutch kick in and the washer starts to spin while it is draining. As a result water is ejected from the tub and leaks onto the floor. I can over come this only by resetting the timer knob - sometimes it takes several tries to succeed. Do you think a new timer fix this? Or might it be something else?
For model number MTW5620TQ1
Hello Marc and thanks for writing.
It could be a faulty timer, but it sounds more like a faulty Water pump PS11741239 and /or a faulty clutch (kick) PS334641 test and replace if needed. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.
Washer does not work on paticular setting, sometime works on casual, sometimes on regular, sometimes on permanent press...sometimes non of the settings will engage to wash.
For model number MTW5700TQ0
Hi Michael, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our understanding, the issue could be with the washer timer, part number PS11748352. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this sorts out your problem!
