Water leak

Does this washer go inside the dishwasher under the nut tube, or outside the dishwasher on the water inlet?

How big diameter is the gasket wp8531323 ? Can it come off easily. We found a gasket in the bottom of our washer but no leaks. Our gasket does not have four tabs on the inside.

I'm looking for the correct part number for a black door latch for the model number MDBH949PAB1
AND
Is it necessary to replace the entire latch assembly Or should I be looking for a different part. It's the little plastic piece - that locks the door in place. It wasn't engaging and when I tried to push it into place to hold the doo
r shut - it broke (I'm assuming) and it fell down inside the door.. so it's not the assembly that actually broke it's the latch itself.
