When using the autodry selection the drier will never shutoff. It will continue until dor is opened. When using the air fluff option it works properly but doesn't dry properly. When using the last setting it does the same as the first.

Hello Julius, thank you for your question. There are a few parts I would check to determine what the issue is with this appliance. I would check the gas coils, Radiant Flame Sensor, timer, and thermostats of the unit. These can all be tested using an ohmmeter. I hope this helps!

With the timer positioned to begin, the start button is pressed and nothing happens. There is no movement or indication that the Maytag gas dryer will begin. When the timer is turned manually back to its off position and i once again press the start button, there is a "buzzing" sound at the start button position. At first, i thought that the problem may have been in the starter button, but then the sound makes me think that its actually working and the problem may lie elsewhere. If you think that it actually is the start button, i might try replacing it because it's a relatively inexpensive item. But i'm suspecting the timer may be the culprit, so i removed the timer but need help in determining if there is any way to check its internal circuitry to be sure that its actually at fault. I do have a volt/ohm tester, but not sure what to do. (the door switch is not the problem, i fixed that by taping the shut off switch to be permanently closed).

Hello Joe, thank you for your question. I would recommend testing both the timer and the start switch. There is information on how to test these parts at the following link: https://www.partselect.com/Repair/Dryer/Will-Not-Start/ . This should help diagnose the issue. If you can't determine with certainty, I would recommend replacing the start switch first. I hope this helps!

Since over a year, we have difficulties to start dryer when pulling the knobs to start it. We need to pull out many times before it start and it's getting more and more difficult. Do i need to change the timer ??
For model number mde6400azw
Hi Michel, thank you for contacting us. You will need to check the knob for any physical damage. If it rotates freely or looks damaged, you will need to replace the knob, part number PS11739486. After that, you will need to check the timer switch, part number PS11741133. Check the timer switch using a multimeter for continuity. Please submit a new question if you have any follow-ups.
Could the timer be the problem? Burner lights for a couple minutes, then goes out. Replaced coils and checked the other components, everything else checked good. Thank you

Hi Gary, thank you for asking. Since you have checked the other parts and they all checked fine, we would recommend checking the timer, part number PS11741057, to fix the issue. This dryer timer is used to control the unit's cycles by regulating the length of time that power is directed to each setting. We hope this solves your problem!
