The gas dryer was not working well. It took twice as long and the clothes were still damp. After searching this website and investigating, my best guess was that it was a faulty high limit thermostat. It took 6 days to ship by first Fed Ex and then the mail. Once the part arrived it was very easy to replace it. Unfortunately the problem still existed, I couldn't wait another 6 days as the laundry was piling up, so I called the repairman. Dryer gas heat turned off after 1-2 minutes
First changed the ignitor, which did not fix the problem. Unpug Dryer. Removed the front panel by taking out the 2 phillips screws and pulling the bottom of the panel out first, releasing the top clips. Remove the clip holding the coils on and replace them. ... Read moreostat are pretty easy to get to using 1/4" drive socket. the screws can be a bit tough to get back in, but be patient. Wiring is pretty straight forward, remove from the old part and put on the new, same orientation. This is a good time to vacuum out the bottom of the dryer to get any loose lint out. Return the front panel, tilting out at the bottom to engage the top clips. Plugged it in and worked like a charm
Found the high temp thermostat was shutting off the gas after just a few seconds. Tested the thermostat and it looked like it was opening at 180 degrees as opposed to the rated 240 degrees, so I ordered one from PartSelect, which shipped the next business day. Replaced the thermostat and no luck, still shutting down after a few seconds.

Dryer would light at start and then not light.
I used the trouble shooting part of this site and bought the radiant flame sensor and the high limit thermostat. Installation was very easy. The original problem still persisted and then purchased the temp. control thermostat, cycling thermostat and thermal fuse. These parts installed easily as well and the problem still existed.

Read more While using the Multimeter to determine if the gas valve coils were getting voltage during the lighting process I moved the contacts on the two wire coil and noticed that the coil would activate sporadically. As it turned out the coil had a loose connection which would contact while cool and then lose contact when the coil warmed up.
This was a tricky issue to diagnose and am now waiting for a new coil to finish the repair.
I now have an almost complete set of spare parts for electrical issues and got them at a nice price. I will keep them in the event that I might need some of them in the future.
The repair would have been easy and very straight forward thanks to this website if the actual problem hadn't been the crazy heat related bad connection in the coil. Since the flame would light during startup the coils seemed to me to be good. Actually finding a weird issue is the sort of thing I find to be the fun part of repairing things.

With the high temperature thermostat, will the dryer temperature really reach 240°f? I've read where dryers don't get hotter than about 150-160°f. Thanks!

When the dryer is off and door shut, the timer will advance. But it won't advance when the dryer is running. I replaced the drying cycling thermostat like it said to but still not advancing when drying clothes. What do i look for next?

Thank you for your question. I would suggest testing all of your thermostats but also take a look at your door switch. Sometimes the machine will not continue with the cycle if it thinks that the door is open. Your switch could be failing just as the cycle starts. You can test all of these parts with a multimeter. I replaced the blower exhaust fan successfully. Now the dryer at times intermittently has no heat and sometimes a little heat. There is no heat with heavy clothes. I do not have a multi meter. What part do you suggest.Thank you. Fred

I have replaced the hi-limit thermostat and i still don't get enough heat. If i leave the hi-limit thermostat connected but remove it from the burner tube the dryer functions as expected. Am i missing something here?

Hello Rob, thank you for your question. I suggest checking the Radiant Flame Sensor and check the wiring around the heating unit as a loose wire can also cause this issue. I hope this helps!

The burner ignites with little difficulty. Remain lit for about 30 seconds. Goes out. There are a number of clicks. Burner then ignites after about 20 seconds. This process repeats. Clothes will dry but there is commonly the smell of gas.
Replaced a number of parts. Don't know where to go to next.
