PLEASE UNPLUG REFRIGERATOR FIRST. Through You Tube, removed the ice door parts and carefully replaced all the components with use of a screw driver. Cover detaches from the bottom and move upward when loose. May have silicone around cover. Once complete attach cover back on. The inside of the freezer door right under the ice container

How does i access the ice auger motor? Some youtube video show easy access by remove 2 screws under the auger and then 4 screws that hold auger but this model does not appear to have that easy access.

Thank you for your question. Here is some information that a customer has left on how they installed the auger that you may find useful, "My Kitchen-Aid ice dispenser had stopped working. I ordered parts and began the repair as soon as the parts arrived. Removed front cover of the ice dispensing station. Two screws at the bottom of the faceplate, under the tray section. Opened the freezer door and removed the ice bucket. Under it I found the connecting drive shaft that links to the auger inside the bucket. Two screws were easily removed and the parts lifted out. The drive shaft was now exposed and could be lifted straight up and out. Back to the front of the door. Now I got to work on the motor itself. It was under a piece of cardstock that protects the area from accidental electrical contact. The motor is held on with 4 screws. The nut driver removed them easily. The new motor was an exact replacement. I substituted the old motor with the new one. At this point I dropped in the new drive shaft from above, inside the door, and made sure it mated properly to the auger motor. Then I re-aligned the holes of the motor bracket, replaced the screws, redressed the wires in the area and put the face plate back on the front of the freezer door. Put the ice bucket back in place, and it worked. Took about 20 minutes.

Hello, my ice dispenser stopped working last week, the button works, and the dispenser door opens and the water dispenser works but the auger stopped turning and i do not hear the motor making any noise and the ice does not come out. Could this be the motor? I even took out the tray and tried it without any ice in the tray and it still will not turn.

Hello Donald, thank you for your question. This motor rotates the auger. When the auger rotates, it pushes ice out of the bin, through a chute to the user. If the auger is not moving, and there is no sound from the motor you should replace the auger motor. Thank you for the great question, Looking through our list of symptoms and repair help it seems the most common part to be replaced to fix the issue is the Ice Auger Drive Motor PS11739848. If you are able to take the bin apart and see that there is no physical damage to the parts inside the motor may need to be replaced.

Is the auger motor the part i would most likely need if no ice is being made and when i push the ice dispense button i hear a click but the motor doesn't turn at all.

Hello Michael, thank you for contacting us. The auger/motor pushes the ice out of the bin to be dispensed or crushed and dispensed. The click noise is the ice door opening but no ice comes out since the auger isn't turning. The motor would need to be replaced. Now if no ice is being made, such as, no water getting to the ice maker, that could be an issue with the water inlet valve. If the ice maker is getting water but not ejecting into the ice bin that would be an issue with the ice maker motor. Hope this helps!

Hello Hugh, Thank you for your inquiry. It does sound like the ice auger drive motor. To test it, try removing the ice bin and pressing the dispenser lever to see if the auger will turn. If it doesn't, then replace the auger motor. Hope this helps!

Hello. Our 17 year old freezer stopped dispensing ice and the part in the bucket isn’t turning. However we do hear the motor running. I am unable to order a replacement entire bucket part but can get a new motor. Would getting a new motor fix the rotation that is failing even though the current motor is making a noise and seems to be working? I can’t figure out why else it won’t work.

It makes ice, but the ice does not dispense through the chute. It sits behind the chute door that is not opened. If you manually reach in, and open the door, all of the ice that was waiting dispenses. Is this fixed by the auger motor?

Hi Gina, Thank you for the question. If the ice is making it to the door then the auger motor would be fine, the issue would be the door not opening. First you can check to make sure the Chute Door is not warped and causing it to get "stuck". If the door is fine try and listen for the Ice Dispenser Door Motor,PartSelect Number PS11749796 to come on when the try to dispense the ice. If the motor is not coming on it is defective and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!
