Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This part is used to regulate air flow from the freezer compartment to the fresh food compartment. Once the desired temperature is reached, the air diffuser closes.

Diffuser Fixed Clicking Issue
diffuser was broken and temperature regulation was not working well. Ordered part and followed instructions for replacing it. Job went perfectly. Note it is worth taking a photo before removing the electrical connectors from the old diffuse and then connecting them up the same way once the new one is installed.

Great part, great instructions
The video and instructions of the part made this installation easy. The most difficult part of the repair is getting the tubing back into the channels. Our 19yr old fridge is back ! We had a lot of condensation in the crisper drawer. The vent into the freezer compartment was always plugged with frost. Replacing this part resolved the problem completely

The air diffuser was the correct part and was moderately easy to install in the KitchenAid Supera side-by-side.
The part was nicely protected in the mailing box and arrived as expected. The part is exactly what was needed - and is working fine. The installation require the removal of the wire harness/tube cover in the refrigerator. Disconnect the two wired connectors from the diffuser. In the freezer, remove the air FLOW diffuser which is at the roof of the frezzer (probably behind the ice maker) there are only two screws (I did not need to remove the ice maker). The plastic panel at the back of the freezer needs to be removed by pulling gently from an edge easing it out as you take out the the air FLOW diffuser. Now you have access to the four click-in grips which need to be squeezed together to free the diffuser. Back in the refrigerator, carefully pull the diffuser out from its nesting place. Carefully pull the tubing of the diffuser (you may want to take a picture before pulling off the tubing so that you know how it is to be reconnected) there will be two pieces of tubing. Carefully guide the tubing onto the NEW diffuser, push the tubing until it is completely secured in the groves. Place the new diffuser into its nesting place making sure the tub coming from the freezer is in place while pushing on the new diffuser until the four snaps are in place, in the freezer compartment (this takes some effort and strength). Put back the back panel and air FLOW diffuser in the freezer compartment. In the refrigerator, reconnect the two wire harness to the new air diffuser. Replace the harness/tub cover. Your're done.

Diffuser replacement
The side by side refrigerator was warm on the fridge side, but good on the freezer side. I suspected the fridge thermostat and replaced it. That wasn't it. And because of the amount of frost the warm fridge was generating in the freezer the defrost module went out. After that I replaced the broken diffuser (original problem), which wa
... Read mores very easy. You need to take the plastic shroud off of the top back of the freezer. You then will see four prongs holding the diffuser in, which is on the fridge side back left side. Unhook the two plugs and unsnap the one thermostat lead and you are good to go. I should have replaced the diffuser right from the start. If you use a mirror you can see if the diffuser is opening and closing properly. Questions- email me- sir_jeremy@yahoo.com

Refrigerator not cooling on side-by-side fridge
First I'd like to tell you about the problem. You might have the same.
I found out that the diffuser was the problem. It sits on the top of the wall in the fridge towards the freezer side. No cold air would come in from the freezer. A little electrical motor inside the diffuser was working (one could here some clicking insi
... Read morede the diffuser), but the plastic piece, that is connected to the motor, was broken at the wheel of the motor (I opened up the old unit to look for the problem). So, it could not do its job, closing and opening the little windows to/from the freezer. It broke at a point where the windows/openings where closed, and in turn no cold air was coming in from the freezer side to cool the fridge.
Replacing this thing is pretty simple. I'll be very detailed, so it might look like it's a lot, but it really isn't.
In the fridge: make some room for you to move around: take out the stuff on the top shelf. Remove the long plastic cover from the diffuser towards the door; it's only one screw. Then remove the cover for the diffuser; again it's only one screw (you won't see this screw if you do not remove the long piece first). Unplug the electrical connectors (2) from the diffuser. Also remove the thermo-lines (2); one comes from the freezer and one from the fridge. You might have to cut some tape. If you can not remove the thermo lines at this point, then wait; I'll mention them again.
Now inside the freezer: clear out all the stuff that is placed on the top shelf(s) to get access to the cover that sits directly at the back wall inside the freezer. It's only fastened by two clips at the back of the cover. Once removed (pull it towards yourself), remove the large airflow piece that is directed towards the ice maker; it's fastened by two (2) screws, I think they were 7mm heads. Also remove the small air flow piece that is connected to the diffuser. You should now have enough room to loosen the diffuser. Just move in the four (4) "feet" from the diffuser towards the center of the hole and then push them through to the fridge side. Take out the diffuser from the fridge side. If a thermo line is still attached, remove it. Installation is just about the reverse. It should not take more than 30 min to do this. Hope it will fix your problem. As always, take good care of anything you are doing!

Does the air diffuser just open and close or does it also turn on the compressor and the evaporator motor? The compressor and evaporator motor both run and work, freezer side works fridge won’t get cold. Do you think it is the air diffuser?
For model number KSRX25FNST01
Hello Neal, Thank you for the question. The Diffuser just opens and closes allowing air to flow through. We suggest checking the Diffuser to see if it opens and closes freely and it is not frozen or jammed in the closed position. We hope this is helpful!

Does this also control power to the evaporator fan?not getting power to fan not sure if diffuser is working but I’m sure it was growling and making noise looking at the wiring it looks like power is switched at the diffuser to control the evaporator fan thanks
For model number Ksrs25fgwh01
Hello Ken, thank you for reaching out. According to our research, the diffuser balances the airflow from the evaporator fan housing to supply the cold air from the freezer section to the fresh food section. But, the voltage is directed to the evaporator fan motor from the temperature control thermostat, part number PS11738943. We hope this information helps!
