This new Vertical Mullion Rail replaces the original piece that failed and would not allow the doors to close. I had to remove the old one to allow the doors close as much as possible. Not sure if this part was was new or used (guessing new), but it arrived extremely fast and was intuitively obvious to install. Thank you! It's replacement was necessary after 5 years because the left door to which it attaches was installed slightly lower than it should have been (and obviously lower than the right door) so the top of the mullion's mechanism did not engage as well as it could have and wore down prematurely.

Condensation inside at the top of the refrigerator. Freezer compartment icing up.
Repair was very easy. I followed the instruction provided by this site for mullion rail. The door gaskets were a simple push fit. but needed the use of a hair drier to remove crimps in the rubber. Overall excellent. The refrigerator is working and cooling well.
Awesome! Couldn't ask for it any better. I watched the video from Partselect multiple time and was just as easy as they said it would be. It took me longer to watch the video four times than it did for me to install it. I have a habit of 10 minute projects turning into a couple hours and this took about 10 minutes. Thanks.

Vertical Mullion Rail was broken and detached partly from door
Removed the middle screw and the whole rail came of. Unplugged wires and removed old rail. Plugged in the new rail and slid top and bottom slides on and put on the middle screw. Job finished

top support clip broke
.screw held in the center of the rail,pull it out,slide the rail up off the support brackets on the door,unplug the old one & plug in the new one,slide on, & replace the screw! That Easy

The rail is not broken but the plastic piece the screws go in has cracked. Do I have to buy the whole rail?

Why is the rail on my door extremely hot

Hi Gary,
Thank you for your question. If the mullion is hot, the heat is generated by a heat loop located in the mullion and the walls near the gaskets to prevent moisture and frost from developing. This will usually last 24 hours. If it is warmer than normal, the issue may be with the condenser and you will need to clean it. If the air flow around the condenser is blocked by dust, dirt and other debris, this will cause the both the mullion and walls near the gaskets to become warmer than normal. It is important to clean it on a regular basis. Also, if your refrigerator has an Energy Saver feature, this controls the heat and may cause the mullion to become warmer than normal. You will need to check you owner's manual for information on how to use it. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

Ps11738597 is the vertical mullion part. Does it come with the clips for both sides. The clip on the left door side is broken, not on the mullion side. Can you buys those clips for the door side?
