Will this possibly resolve both the freezer and refrigerator not cooling? I cleaned the coils and condenser fan. Everything runs for a few hours before the over temp reset button is illuminated. It seems the unit will cool for a bit and then shut down again after a few hours and the over temp reset lights up again. I checked both thermistors and they read at 3.7k ohms at room temp. I will also double check the compressor starts up and runs.

Hello Chris, Thank you for your inquiry. This part controls all of the temperature functions of the refrigerator so it could fix the issue. The other parts we would recommend if you haven't already tested them are the defrost thermostat, defrost heater, the air baffle/damper and the evaporator and condenser fan motors. We hope this helps.
The part that is shown on the site does not look exactly like the controller in my refrigerator. Is this part a direct replacement where not all cables are hooked up? Model no and serial no on my refrigerator is kssc42fks00, qm1208502. It does not have a water/ice dispenser on the freezer door.

Hi Rick,
Thank you for the question. This part has been updated and substituted by the manufacture. Whirlpool has advised the part may differ in appearance but will function the same as the original. Also the diagrams are for basic part description and location so the part will not look %100 the same as the diagrams.
Hope this helps!
