Murray Lawn Mower Cap Axle Black 1 50 X 00

This genuine black cap axle, also sometimes known as the dust cap, is around 2 inches in diamater and sold individually. Comprised of plastic, it is designed to keep debris out of the hub and axle of your lawn mower or garden tractor. Over time, your dust cap may become damaged or lost due to wear and tear. If this happens, dirt and debris can freely enter the axle and hub, causing damage.
This is an easy repair to make and does not require any tools. Just look for the cap axle on the rim of the wheel to make your repair.

Wheel bushings were bad
Removed old clip removed rim from tractor, removed grease fitting on rim, took hammer and screw driver knocked out old bushing turned rim over knocked out other bushing. Press in new bushings reinstalled grease fitting slide tire back on tractor, put retaining washers on then locking clip put on dust cover grease at grease fitting. Repeat other side.

The Dust Shield is a 6-3/4 inch, black plastic part, used to prevent dust or debris fouling the wheel or axle. It attaches inside of the wheel around the axle. Installation is rated as "Easy" and will require a wrench. If broken, damaged, or worn due to fatigue, you will see visable damage and you may have debris getting caught in the axle. If broken, replace it. Refer to your make, model and diagram to make sure you're choosing the right part. This part comes individually sold.

Front drive wheel locked up, causing the mower to not be able to be pushed.
Removed wheel by pressing off the plastic hub cap exposing the nut holding the wheel. I removed the nut, then pulled the wheel straight off the axel shaft. This exposed the broken dust cover. I they wiggled the dust cover off, cleaned the dirt from inside the wheel, placed the new dust cover, replaced the wheel, nut and hub cap.

This rear axle, thick flange boot, also known simply as the boot, protects the rear axle of your riding lawn mower/tractor. It measures 4.75 x 3 inches, and is black and made of plastic. This part can dry out and crack due to fatigue and wear; you may notice a rip in it, and debris entering the hub of your mower. When this occurs, it is time to replace the boot, which our customers rated as a medium-difficulty repair.
You will need to attach your new boot to the rear axle of your machine, and the repair will require a screwdriver, pliers, a socket set, wrench set, and snap ring pliers.
