Noisy Bearings
In order to replace the bearings of a front loader LG Washer you will need to disassemble the entire unit. you should have excellent mechanical skills to tackle this project with necessary tools. Plan on replacing both bearings and rear seal, also plan on replacing the spider and drum seal. The Spider that supports the inner drum will be corroded due in part to seal failure. By the time you are hearing the bearing noise the damage to the spider will have taken place and need replacing. You can watch a few videos on youtube with similar appliances to give you an idea of the project at hand. Once disassembled cleaned and inspected the assembly goes real smooth. The washer now works as good as new and is ready for another 10+ years of service. Doing this project myself has saved me from buying a new one and that savings amounts to over $1000 bucks. LG washers are built to last and you will see that while working on it! Good Luck and do your homework!

Washing machine stopped purging water from drum to hose
Do not pay a service company to come to your house to make this fix!!! If you have common sense, simple tools, a phone camera and some mini zip ties you can do this!

After watching a couple YouTube videos on installing a new motor I had the confidence to start the job. My biggest worry was I'd forget where a screw/part went so I took a lot of pictures as I disassembled. I also laid all the parts out on a table reflective of where they belonged on the machine. I learned washers aren't rocket science - YOU CAN DO THIS. The most difficult part of the fix was my washer was a different model so much of the caging was completely different than YouTube disassembly, but once I got into the machine it was fairly identical. Easily popped out the old, broken motor and inserted the new LG certified part. Reassembled in 1/2 the time of disassembly and my machine works like new:) Hoping to get another 10+ years out of this washer.

Thanks PartsSelect for the high quality certified LG part. Very nice quality and weight.

Hot water valve was leaking
After I watched the repair video for the part, it was a snap. It went exactly as the video described the steps. Hardest part was moving the washer to get behind it.

Drum was filling up with water after cycle fully completed
I watched the you tube videos to figure out where everything was. It is a really good idea to mark carefully which pipe goes where to avoid screw ups on re-assembly
The only slightly difficult thing was to locate the catches on the lower edge of the front of the washer top and press them in with the putty knife to release the top of the washer (They are approx 2" in from either side on the front of the washer on my model)
I chose to replace both the hot and cold assemblies - I figured it was the cold which had failed (the more expensive one) but as I had it apart it made sense to do them both.
It fixed the problem. Been two months now - There have been no repeat floods - its all good!
Shipment of parts was fast, and parts were correct for the washer.
I estimate it saved me at least $200 in technician fees by doing it myself. Thanks guys!

Washer would not start, but if you disconnect it and plugged it in it started without pushing start button
It was easy to remove the rubber gasket to get at the door lock. Removing the door lock and replacing was simple enough, but getting the metal ring securing the gasket was cumbersome and challenging. This took most of the time.
However, after replacing the door lock it was obvious that this was not the problem. I had to remove the new part and replace the old one.
For future, it was the pob circuit board that was defective and had to replace it. Apparently this is not an uncommon problem as there are a number of UTube videos about this. This job was more involved and took me over an hour and resolved the issue.

Washer would not drain.
I followed the video and it was quite simple. There was an extra sheet metal screw at the bottom of the front panel which kept it from coming free of the three tabs. On the two pump wite connectors I made a mental note that the black wires were on top. The repair also fixed the lack of water flow through the degeterent dispenser. I was afraid of putting the tub seal back in place as a pro struggled with it when it was new and under warranty. It really was no problem at all. Take some phone pics along the way boosted my confidence.
