Common Symptoms of models starting with RY252CS
[Viewing 1 of 1]Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".
The trimmer would not start.
Pulled trimmer apart, found plastic shims on coil broken. This allowed the coil to drop onto the flywheel, which stopped the crank and in turn sheared the flywheel key. If the key shears it will throw the timing off and the engine will not start. The key is made into the flywheel so it had to be replaced. The trimmer runs again.

I have the new 40V battery carbon fiber shaft model, but I use the curved shaft. I have stacked stone walls and many obstacles to get around, and the curved shaft works best. But, Ry ... Read more obi sends their straight shaft with the new trimmer, and it turns in the opposite direction (counter clockwise) and is hard for me to get into the areas I need.
To correct this, I use the Oregon brand Gatorhead, which fits on the Ryobi with no modiification (easy) and the line comes in spiral discs which can work for either direction of trimmer head to dispense effortlessly. Now, I have a new curved shaft on a new trimmer with the head turning in the clockwise direction.
