The dangles loose from the shaft and doesn't spin when unit is running. I have tried to push it back up the shaft but it falls right back loose. I will appreciate your advice as to what is wrong and what if any parts I may need to repair it. Thanks.

Hi James, thank you for reaching out. We would suggest checking the throttle cable first. If it is fine, the issue could be with the trimmer head assembly, part number PS16668988. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!

The trimmer would not start.
Pulled trimmer apart, found plastic shims on coil broken. This allowed the coil to drop onto the flywheel, which stopped the crank and in turn sheared the flywheel key. If the key shears it will throw the timing off and the engine will not start. The key is made into the flywheel so it had to be replaced. The trimmer runs again.
