RF396PCYN2 Whirlpool Range - Instructions

I'll tell you.......PartSelect said the items would take from 3-5 days.....I got them in 48 hrs. I turned the breaker to the oven off. I unscrewd two screws from the back of the oven and pulled the element out and took it off of two connectors. Repeated the same with the broiler element. Job done saved $200.00...Job was quoted at $259.00

The hardest part was figuring which breaker controlled the oven because it wasn't marked in my breaker box (it IS now!). So, first I killed all power to the stove, then unscrewed the 2 screws in the back of the oven holding the element. Pulled the element forward, then dissconnected the 2 clampy connector wires (yes, I'm a girl, no correct electrical jargon here). These were a little difficult because my oven is 21 years old & this is the first replacement I've had to do. I reconnected the new element clamps(which was easier), pushed the wires back through the opening & reinserted the screws. Threw the breaker back on, turned on oven to 200 degrees & let heat until the set temperature light turned off as a test. Voila - oven fixed!

We have had our Whirlpool oven for 22 years and became very concerned that a part would not be available. We were thrilled to find the part as well as install the new part ourselves. With a screw driver, we disconnected the old baking element ( be sure to shut the power while doing this) and screwed in the new one. That simple!!!

First, I removed the oven door by pulling it open to where it loocked and then I pulled it up and off the hinges. Second, I removed the two screws on the top of the door and three screws on the bottom ot the door which allowed me to remove the front of the door. Third, using a nut driver, I removed the frame holding the inner glass to the door and removed that. Fourth, I removed the frame holding the broken glass to the door by removing the screws using my nut driver. I carefully removed the broken glass and vacuumed the channel that had the gasket in it. The gasket was fine so I did not have to replace it and will return it. I placed the glass in the frame on the gasket and reassembled the door in reverse order of how I had disassembled. All went smooth as silk.

removed the screws that held the element in place. Pulled out the element out about three inches and disconnected the two wires, put the new one in, did the reverse and done. the best part was I orderd it on line after 3:oopm on a thursday and the part was delivered by saturday morning- wow!

Grabbed my courage with both hands, then with my other hand I used a screwdriver. Delicately removed 2 screws holding the broken element. Once that delicate operation was done, I took out the old and place the new. Once again grabbed the screwdriver and with agility replaced 2 screws. Then, I turned on the oven and Voila, ready to bake some enchiladas.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

On Saturday night before Thanksgiving my Wife indicated the oven was not heating up. A quick continuity check of the element indicated the unit was burnt out. I got on line and found PartSelect, found the proper element and ordered it. On Wednesday the element arrived and I removed the oven racks, removed two screws and pulled out the element to access the terminals. disconnected the wires, reconnected the wires to the new element and reinstalled the screws. Entire time was less than 5 minutes.

Thanksgiving dinner was saved at a reasonable price.

Unscrewed the two screws that held the old element to the back wall of the overn. Pulled out to reveal the two wires and connectors. Disconnected the two wires and removed old element being careful not to let the two wires recede back into the wall of the overn. Took the new element and connected the two wires. Then screwed the two screws through the holes in the element into the back wall. Easier than I thought it would be.

turned power off Unscrewed 2 screws pulled old element out slightly . disconected wires . connected wires to new element tightened 2 screws turned power back on baked a pie. took longer to type this

Removed the two sheet metal screws holding the element, Unplugged the contacts and plugged and fastened the new element.

I removed the two screws that hold the element in place and then I pulled the element out and slid off the contacs and it was disconnected in less than two minutes. When it arrived I installed the new one the same way in less than 2 or 3 minutes and while I waited for thepart to arrive I got a chance to clean my oven and so all is well, I am very pleased with my purchase. The repair was simple. Two screws and it popped in. The part arrived quicker then expected. Done in no time.

Made sure that "Breaker" for oven is in the off positon.

Opened oven door to the first "stay open" position...lifted door straight up...and off of the hinges....which removes the door....and allows easier access to oven.

Removed oven racks

Removed two philips head

Pulled burned out element toward the front of the oven.....exposing the two connector wires.

Used pliers to pull wire connectors from burner element connectors.

Reversed the order of this process....to install new element.

My husband undid the screws of the element. I went to Home Depot and they said I had to order in online. I could not find the part of the Home Depot website, so I googled the part and your business was easy to locate and order the part. It arrived in two days and I, the wife, was able to rescrew the element into place and, voila, the oven was functional again.
