GU3000XTXB1 Whirlpool Dishwasher - Instructions

This product comes in a bottle with a brush like Liquid Paper. It goes on incredibly easy. A second coat might be needed. I wanted to prevent rust from setting in so I covered the scratches and dings. The paint is a little brighter since my washer is 10 years old but it still looks great.

Remove two screws at top that fasten dishwasher to cabinet. Slide dishwasher out to expose the two links that attach the door to the springs. Fit the new links to the springs and door.

First i remove upper rack held in by 2 clips at end of metal tracks. Compress inside clips and pull up then slide rack out of tracks.Then remove bottom rack just pick it up.Then i removed bottom sprayer by unscrewing center thumb screw. Then removed feeder tube for top sprayer held in place by 2 ea. phillips screws one on celin of tub and one at back of tub. Move tube to the right which unlocks it and remove. This has to be done to expose 4 ea. star screws. Remove screws and pop screen cover off. You have to take a towel and soak up water to expose bottom of inlets and outlets for water. You will then see the chopper blade with metal screen behind it. It is held in place with on star screw to the left of round top cover. Remove cover and pull on chopper blade which will release it from fingers mated from shaft to chopper blade .While pulling on chopper blade toward front of dishwasher pull up on metal screen it will come out. Clean all food particals out i used a shop vac worked well. Be careful not to drop screws in water inlets. The plastic shaft was broken in half by a piece of dental floss wrapped around shaft. I hope this helps it was not that diffacult just hard to work over door.

The first thing I did to repair my diswasher was call a repair company. They wanted $175.00 just to look at it, so I scheduled an appointment. Then, I did an internet search for dishwasher repair. I learned about bi-metal fuses, and how to check them. I found my bi-metal fuse was bad, so I ordered a new one through parts select. My part arrived in two days. I installed it easily, and the dishwasher worked. Finally, I canceled the repair appointment.

Take 10 lower star srews from inside of door (5 per/side) that hold on front. Remove front door panel. Remove 6 screws in detergent dispenser and replace.

Pulled out dishwasher. Took out old screws. Unsnapped end of rack slid new wheel in and attached to side. Very Very easy. It was great to get the part so fast and take care of this repair ourselves.

Removed old seal, cleaned track, applied adhesive for new seal, seated new seal in track, closed door for 24 hours to allow adhesive to cure, then used dishwasher without difficulty. An easy repair.

I just placed the cap back on, it worked great, fit fine and so glad I found this part. I was thinking of ways to McGyver it, thinking it would be impossible to find a new part. Glad i fount this site and the part.

I watched the video and this was the easiest repair ever. Took longer to disconnect and reinstall than it did to change out the pump. Highly recommended watching the video

I snapped on the new part onto the track. It was that easy! :) Thank goodness the part was available from Part Select!

Was able to replace and repair without taking the dishwasher out. Thermostat is behind and to the left of the power junction box. Has 2 wires going to it. It is up against the bottom of tub. I used an angled mirror to see what I was doing. 1 small screw to detach and pull down thermostat. Be sure power is off before you start. Also reprogrammed defaults. Hit any button 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3, fast and close door. Let it sit 15 min to run and re-set defaults. Now I have heat and dry dishes.

After reading other posts I opened the dishwasher door put a support underneath it. Knowing that all the screws were not the same I carefully unscrewed them and placed them on a towel in order of extraction. After all the screws were taken out, I lifted the door up gently and lifted it out of its place and put it aside. Now I could see the hex screws holding in the soap dispenser. I then unscrewed the screws and place the frame aside. Next I gently pulled the electrical connector to the dispensing unit off. After locating a snap tab on top on the left hand side and one underneath on the right hand side, I gently lifted the tab and the dispenser unit moved slightly forward. After gently prying the lower tab on the right hand side the dispensing unit was loose. I just reversed the process to put things back together. I was not necessary to have any help taking things apart but it was very helpful having a second set of hands when we put it back together. Lining up the screws for the door was much easier with two people. After installation, I started the dishwasher to check for leaks. Everything was fine. Very satisfied to be able to repair/replace this unit without calling a tech. If you can change a spark plug on a lawnmower you can replace a soap dispenser on a dishwasher such as mine. My 2 parts were delivered very quickly. We had been putting off the repair, mainly because any time you hire a capable repair man, the charge to "walk through the door"is very high. I actually thought about buying a new DW for this reason . . . Then I googleD PARTS, And was lucky to find PARTS SELECT. Shut the power to the dishwasher off. Pulled unit out from under the counter top and raised the left hand side up for easy access. Disconnected the wiring, undid the clips, turned counter clockwise and removed. Reversed the order for installation and Connected the power. Ran several cycles successfully. Problem fixed. This kit comes with the link cords and the balance wheels. I only needed the cords. I undid the set screws under the counter edge and slid the Dishwasher out from under the counter. One of the links had a broken cord and the spring had snapped to the very back of the space and was a bit hard to find. I used the good side as a guide to see how to thread the cord correctly. I did not replace the wheels since they appeared to be in good shape and looked like they might be a bit more difficult to replace than just the cord. For a second I thought I had ordered the wrong part because the new cord's attachment point at the hinge did not look exactly like the originals but the new design worked just like the original. I did need one other person to help stretch the spring and hold the door in the best position so I could attach the cord to the hinge. It's working perfectly now and I saved the wheels in case I need them later.
