refrigerator and freezer stopped working
I replaced the three sensors, 2 in the freezer 1 in the refrigerator. This was rated as the most common problem. Did not fix the problem. I then checked the ohms on the new sensors then the old sensors they were all within .5 of each other. So I got smart and went down the list of causes on their list. I emailed partselect and asked what the parts should read. They replied with that information and it turned out to be the voltage converter on the compressor. I ordered the part on friday payed for overnight delivery and it arrived tuesday. This as you can imagine makes me angry. But the part was easy to install and my refrigerator started working right away. I would advise anyone with this problem to start at the top of the problem list use a multi meter check everything on the list and only replace part or parts that don't come up to standards. This will save time and money and hopefully fix the problem the first time as you are not switching out parts and hoping that it solves the problem.
took the back off and defrosted with a hairdryer. disconected the part pulled the part out cut the wires. put the other part on and instaled it. put it back together and it seems to be working just fine. thank you
1 opened door 2. pryed cover off from cieling 3.cut and stripped wires on 4. sodered wires from old wires to new sensor. 5 insulated conection.6 put cover back on. This did not fix the problem it was the control moduel.
Replaced Defrost Thermostat. Tricky removal of light fixture cover and evaporator cover. Light cover screw removal is not intuiitive and the eveaporator cover tabs are not easy AT ALL to remove.Once they are removed, simply 2 screw removal of rear panel.
Had to unscrew screws holding cooling coils to gain access to thermostat mounted on a coil in rear.
Simkple matter to cut wires, remove old thermostat and splice replacement back on. Found it simpler to re-mount thermostat on top coil greatly simplifying process.(Why didn't they place the original unit in this much more accesible place?) Re-attach coils to rear wall replace rear panel, light fixture cover and evaporator cover.
Refrigerator has been running fine this past week.
I found instructions on the web about how to do this repair, so I ordered the part with confidence. But the instructions simply said "pull out the old switchlight". That was actually somewhat difficult as the clip on the side intended to hold the part in was stubborn. I eventually used a utility to slice off the clip. From that point, it was just a matter of plugging in the new switchlight , which was very simple.
It was really easy. I removed my drawers out. (They were kidn of sitting on the base and the glass because the rail broke). All I had to do was unscrew the broken rail and screw in the new one. Good to go in 10 minutes!
I removed the screws and the parts fit perfectly. It was an easy repair. The diagrams online helped a lot. I was very very impressed with how soon these parts arrived. It was one day after I ordered them. I would definitely use this service again.
Removed the broken rail by removing two screws. Put one screw through the hole in the new rail, matched it to the hole in the side of the fridge, and tightened it - not too tight! Then guided the second screw into place and did the same thing. Replaced the drawer. Job done.
Identifying the part on the website was a breeze too, thanks to well-organized site, a picture of the part to match to my broken one, and even a video of a repairman making the repair. Couldn't have been easier, and probably saved me about $100.
The refrigerator was not cooling. The freezer was not defrosting.
After diagnosing the problem with the aid of PartSelect.com, I was able to identify the parts that I needed to replace. Repeating the same procedure for the repair, I unplugged the refrigerator. I transferred all the frozen food items to a cooler. I removed the shelves from the freezer. I removed the back panel from the freezer and located the thermostat with the aid of PartSelect.com and the exploded view of the freezer. I defrosted the freezer with a hair dryer and sucked up water using a wet-dry vacuum. I located the thermostat and removed the entire assembly to simplify the repair outside of the freezer enclosure. I removed the thermostat by cutting the two wires that hold it to the wiring harness. I then soldered the wires back in place and covered my work in heat shrink tubing.
I was astonished when my part (PS306943 SLIDE ASM LH (Drawer Slide Rail - left side)arrived the very next day!! In a big box, beautifully wrapped. I got out my screw driver, detached the dead shelf support and screwed in the new one. Oh it's so very nice to have the fridge working again, and so soon. Hooray for Part select.com The best thing since sliced bread. Jill
