Refrigerator door would not close completely
This is a side-by-side unit. After blocking up the closed refrigerator door to the correct height to match the freezer door, I removed the lower hinge pin assembly by taking out two bolts. Save the shims (my had two) for the new hinge pin. Then remove the cam riser from the bottom of the door by taking out two bolts. Install the new cam riser on the bottom on the door. Then install the new hinge pin assembly. Total time 15 minutes.

Plastic cam on the hinge assembly was worn out and broken
I followed the many post on replacing this part and everything went well. I had a little trouble getting the hinge post into the new hinge assembly, but with a slight adjustment it fell into place. I checked to see what tools I would need to do the job and had them ready before I even started. I removed the door and had it back on in maybe 10 minutes and I am not exactly Mr. Fix It. The only advice I can add to what everyone else has said is you should look the job over a little before you take the door off and have your tools ready. Then you won't have the door off for too long. I'd like to thank this site and everyone who gave advice on how to fix this problem. It made the whole job very easy.

Broken plastic closure cam
I blocked the bottom of the door(CAREFULLY!!) in position to elevate the door & take strain off the lower hinge & pivot post, while maintaining proper door alignment. I removed the two screws holding the hinge & post assembly from the frame, saving the screws & spacer for reuse. I removed the two screws holding the upper cam bracket on the door, again keeping the attaching parts. I installed and carefully aligned the new cam, original spacer & retaining plate to the lower edge of the door. I installed the new hinge & post assembly using the existing spacer & screws. I aligned the door & seal while checking the gap from top to bottom and from side to side. I carefully tighten the screws and rechecked the gap between the door & frame as well as the alignemnt of the door seal. Once satisfied with the alignment, I finished tightening the screws. I emphasize care and extreme caution in reinstalling the screws, they are a self-tapping (self-threading) type of fastener and this requires caution to make sure they are started and installed in the original threads of the door & frame. I put them all in using only finger pressure until I was positive they were started straight, going into the original threads, NOT trying to cross-thread or cut new threads, the structure is too thin for that and stripped threads will result! The door alignment and gap spacing is critical, make sure to check these adjustments carefully to ensure proper operation. Total time of repair, less than 15 minutes. I hope I have not over-simplified this because I have over 55 years of Automotive shop experienced and an ASE Certified Master Auto & Truck Technician...:-)

Refrigerator door wouldn't close fully
This is a side by side freezer/refrigerator, nearly 30 years old. The repair was very quick and easy. 1. Remove two screws from top bracket. There is no cover for the top hinge on this older model. (2) Lift off door and set on kitchen table. (3) Remove two screws holding bottom door hinge. (4) remove two screws hold the cam and shims on the bottom of the door. (5) replace the broken cam on the door, and the bottom hinge assembly. (6) Replace the door on the bottom hinge. (7) Re-attach the top hinge screws, making sure the door is parallel to the freezer door. It took about 10 minutes to do all of the above. Best yet, I ordered the kit about 10am on a Monday, and the parts arrived, normal delivery, before noon the next day.PS- I used petroleum jelly to grease the hinge before replacing the door. The only tool I needed was a nutdriver.

replace hinge assembly
on the refrigerator side remove two screws from hinge on top of door, pick doorup to remove from bottom hinge using a 5/16 socket remove the two screws holding hinge in place, replace with new hinge. on the door loosen up the screws, no need to remove. the screw closest to the hing axis remove completely remove the old cam, insert new cam lined up with axis of hinge reinsert screw, place door back on hinge and replace hinge on top. the freezer side has water an ice in the door.at the bottom [grill has been removed] of the door a plastic tubing has to be disconnected [make sure water is off] the disconnect is near the door, the coupling is only finger tight. uncou[ple plastic coupling and pull out of connection, pull the nut and ferule off the tubing. now take top hinge off, remove door straight up while feeding plastic tubing thru hinge. the hinge is replaced the same way as the other side. when new hinge an cam are in place, lift door up now feed the plastic tubing thru the hinge till door is in place, replace top hinge. when you reconnect the plastic tubing it helps if you place a lubricant on the end so that you slide the nut and ferule on. the connection should only be finger tight, no wrenches
