AS2728GIHW Maytag Refrigerator - Instructions

Checked the ice tray and could only find the drive ring had some breaks in the plastic. Actually did not see why this would stop the auger from turning and dispensing ice. However this was the only thing I could find wrong with the unit. I pulled the tray, removed 6 screws (star tip heads) pulled the auger forward and replaced the drive wheel, put the unit back together and its been working fine ever since.

Getting a new lower hinge pin, fixed the problem.

First of all, I am a woman and I don't have a lot of tools but I do like to try to fix things on my own before shelling out $ for a professional repair. I found and followed their YouTube video to fix the fridge. To begin with (before I even ordered the part) I needed to find out if it could be something other than the actuator pad that needed to be replaced so I took everything apart (pretty easy) and checked to make sure that the 'Limit switch' was clicking and able to be depressed by the tip of the actuator pad (the actuator pads connects with the Limit Switch which activates the ice flow). It did click. So I figured the Limit Switch was not the problem so I put everything back together and ordered the actuator pad. When it arrived I was already a pro at knowing what needed to be done. I had it replaced in about 15 minutes and its working great!! Thank you so much for your videos on You Tube. I wouldn't have known what to do. You saved me a bundle of money!! Blessings to you all. Unplugged refrigerator 1st to avoid shocks. Took off the front/outside panel of freezer door at ice/water dispenser (6 screws) and disconnected the single electronics plug-in .Pulled off old rubber covered actuator and replaced with new one. Easy. Would recommend cleaning contacts prior to replacing cover. Works like a charm now! Thx. DB

Unplugged appliance. Using a small putty knife I moved the switch out far enough to grab it with pliers. Moved wiring to new switch and pushed into place after testing.

Took ice maker out all together we removed 4 to 5 screws had to remove axel to get the broken piece out and new one in my husband said it was easy in and out in about 15 minutes saved about 150. 00 Thanks partslect

took of the face plate of the ice maker and disconnected the elec. strape and wire and removed the unit in order to replace the 3 parts...it was somewhat simple... Copied part select schematic in order to follow the part install sequence.

Easy disassemble removing screws to separate front of ice bin.Be sure to note how metal rod is attached to rear of ice bin. Installed drive ring and reattached face (front) of ice bin in about 15 minutes.

unplug refrigerator, take backing off with nut driver. Pull old blade off and put new blade on. Put backing back on and plug in.
