You can access the sensor by either removing the back panel of your appliance or by reaching through the oven/range cavity from the front. To check if it has shorted out, use a multimeter in continuity mode or the lowest ohms setting. Touch the probes to the wire terminals. To replace the element, start by shutting off the oven at the circuit breaker and unplugging the appliance. Open the oven door and pull out the racks. Unthread the screws at the back of the oven using a screwdriver. Gently pull the element out to access the wiring behind it, ensuring not to pull out any insulation or lose the wires in the insulation or behind the stove.
