Shindaiwa Multi-Tool Breather Assembly

This breather, also known as a fuel tank vent, is a genuine OEM replacement part used in trimmers and edgers. It is responsible for managing the pressure and air flow inside the fuel system, by acting as a valve for the fuel tank. It allows clean air to enter the tank, while preventing dirt and debris from entering as well. Over time, the breather can crack or become clogged leading to restricted air flow, inconsistent fuel supply, fuel leakage, hard starting, and engine stalling. Locate the breather on or near the fuel tank and disconnect the hoses and fasteners attached to it. Depending on your model you may need to remove the fuel tank to complete this replacement. Place the new breather in position and reattach the hoses and fasteners. Test the new part by gently blowing into the breather to confirm that the air flow is not restricted.

This is an OEM sourced replacement part used on Shindaiwa trimmers. Its purpose is to filter out dust and debris from contaminating the carburetor and engine. When replacing the filter you can open the package in comes in and put a bit of two cycle oil in the bag and let it absorb into the filter. Then remove it from the bag and squeeze it with a paper towel to remove the excess oil. To replace this filter no special tools are needed. Simply remove the cover and replace the filter element.

The Recoil Starter Assembly, aka the Recoil Assembly, is a kit that includes the pulley, a return spring, the starter cord, and the pawls which engage the flywheel to turn over the engine.
The components of this assembly are constructed of steel and plastic.
The kit can be installed with a screwdriver and is rated as "Easy" to install (Tip: line all the parts up to install). This kit starts the engine, and you will know it is broken if the pull cord will not retract, or the engine is not engaging after it is pulled. The rope may also break. When the part breaks due to fatigue or general wear, it must be replaced. The part attaches on top of the engine where the flywheel is located.
