Perfect part replacement
I needed to replace the refrigerator door handle and this was the perfect fit. I did struggle getting the old handle off but finally managed. It was easy to replace the new handle. My only criticism is that you must purchase the freezer handle as well. I don't need that handle and now it sits in storage. Hopefully I'll never need it so why did I have to pay for it. But all in all, a much better value than replacing the entire fridge that still works perfectly.

freezer door handle
Today, it took about 10 minutes to unscrew the screws to the broken handle and then screw the new handle on. Works like a charm. All I needed was a Phillips screwdriver.

Both Handles on the refrigerator and freezer on top were broken.
The fridge handle had been superglued by some idiot and was stuck to the fridge. I had to carefully pry that screwed part off the door carefully and it came off in pieces. The freezer handle was already broken off and the screw pieces were still in there.
Removed all the screws and replaced with the new ones. Had it done in 30 minutes and it was super easy and looked great.

Handle broke on the top where the screws go.This is the second handle that broke in the same place in 5 years.
Remove the top screws, with a Philips screw driver, take broken piece out. Then remove the plastic cover on bottom of handle, take the torx screw out. Now handle is off.Put new handle in place and put all three screws back in. Then install new plastic cap, and you are all done.

The original white plastic refigerator door handle broke on the top thin Attachment point. It was designed with a too thin under stength thickness just before the two upper screw holes.
The replacement was installed without difficulty and very quickly. I used a Philips and Torex screwdrivers. It only took a few minutes to accomplish. However, The design of the replacement handle is identical to the original's. So, it too has the same weak point. It is just as likely to break in the same spot as the original did. Also, this was the second replacement part that I had to order and pay for before I received the needed correct part. The first part that I incorrectly ordered and received was a clear plastic inner door. Was confused because this part was not pictured on the G E website showing replacement parts for this refrigerator. Both parts orders were received very quickly, even though I used normal shipping..

How do i install the new door handle
For model number GTH18GBDDRWW
Hi Jerry,
Thank you for your question. This handle is just unscrewed from the top and you slide it down off the bottom mounting screw for your refrigerator door. It looks like for your freezer door both the bottom and top and screws to unscrew. We do not have a video specifically for this part, but this is generally how the installation is done for the fridge portion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=079K_vVSI7A. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
