This ribbed-neck stud in your lawn equipment is a threaded bolt that attaches to the wheel hub. It may also be referred to as a wheel stud. It secures the wheel to the hub and has a 7/16-inch diameter, a 14 threads per inch pitch, and a length of 1.6 inches. If the wheel feels loose or wobbles, the stud may be broken or damaged. Look for visible cracks, bends, or breaks in the stud. A broken stud can cause wheel misalignment or detachment and additional stress on the wheel assembly. To remove the stud, turn off the equipment, engage the safety mechanisms, and use a jack to elevate the equipment. Remove the wheel by loosening and removing the nuts, then slide it off the hub. With the wheel removed, use a hammer to drive the stud out of the hub. You need to use a press to install the new stud.
