This is a genuine Poulan, Husqvarna and Jonsered part for use with Lawn Tractors. The tie rod keeps the front wheels of the tractor aligned. The most common reason for replacing the short steering link is when the lawn mower is not steering properly. This part is sold individually. The tools that you will need to replace the tie rod is a -+ inch socket, 9/16 inch socket.

The tie rod on my 20 year-old lawn tractor snapped.
I used two wrenches, unscrewed both ends of the old tie rod and it fell out. In nearly no time, I had the new one in. After finding the right end wrenches, I don't think I had more than 10 minutes into the project. Easiest repair I have done on anything in a long time!
