This light socket is designed for use in your microwave. The function of this part is to connect your light bulb to the power source, so the light works during operation. If you notice your light is not functioning, you may need to replace the light socket. Be sure to test your light bulb to see if that is the issue before replacing the light socket. This light socket is approximately 2 inches in width, and 1 inch in height. It is made of black plastic, and the appropriate light bulb will simply screw in to the housing. The part is sold individually.

Hi Majorie,
Thank you for your inquiry. I have found a repair story from one of our customers that you may find useful,
"I removed the screws from the front and sides only. about 8 screws. I did not remove the screws in the back because I had enough room for my hands when the front dropped down. removed the plastic cover housing that protects the 2 power wires. Simply squeezed and pulled back to remove. Then removed the screw holding the housing in place which was accessed from the front just above the light socket. *** make sure you document or mark which wires go to which connector before removing the wires and make sure you test for power before handling them. If power press light button until no power. *** To much of a pain to pull stove out and unplug but that is the safest way. Then mount new housing with screw and plug in wires. Mine were white and blue. Make sure you thread wires through plastic wire cover first. and then close up bottom of micro."
I hope this helps with the repair. Thank you and have a great day!

Burned out light under microwave and Filters needed changing
I just removed the multiple screws which held the hood cover on. I then attempted to remove the light bulbs from the socket. This proved impossible because the bulbs were so fragile from the heat and grease build up. To make this task much easier and probably safer, just replace the bulb housing and light bulb. The bulb housing unplugs very easily. Just replace it then screw your new bulb in. P.S. Be sure to unplug appliance before you start.
The filters are very easy to replace. No tools needed.
when removing the bulb the base broke off and there was an ark took place as I had made a mistake and didn't unplug the unit before working on it , thought with the light switch off it was ok, but still had power in that area . So ALWAYS uplug before making repairs. The whole unit was dead and I checked for power at the plug and it was live. after unpluging I took the main control panel off and discovered a fuse was blown and replaced it along with a new socket and bulb and now it works like new . the fuses are inside small plastic capsuals so I back probed them with continuity light to find the blown fuse . It was quite simple once I found how to get the panels off. Just basic common sence will take care of most appliance problems thanks Louie Scholl

PART ON POINT
This was a part I used, it helped knowing the model and serial number of my microwave. It took me longer to take all of the LITTLE screws out holding the bottom plate up than it did to install the part. And let me tell you, have some Dawn dish soap handy, because it seems that grease from the cooktop goes EVERY where!
They work great, I can finally see the light!!!! ????
