Product Description
Evaporator Fan Motor Kit Specifications
The evaporator is found in the back of the freezer. This kit comes with two mounting grommets, two sleeves (not to be used on porcelain models), two #8 mounting screws, and a push-on fan blade. If you are experiencing symptoms such as the fridge making loud noises (generally stemming from the freezer compartment), or the fridge/freezer feeling warm in temperature, this may indicate a need to replace your evaporator fan motor. This part pulls air into the evaporator coils and then disperses the air in a continuous motion throughout the refrigerator and freezer.
NOTE: NO LONGER ABLE TO GET BRACKETS. SEE PART INSTRUCTIONS IN SERVICE MATTERS INSTRUCT SHEET# W11500157 11/20KC.

Guys: I am having a unusual problem with evap fan motors. When first installed fan runs normal speed but when temp comes down fan slows to less then half speed and may speed back up for a few mins and slow again. I have tried 2 of them i bought from you, both have the same problem. Have you heard of this before. Any ideas. The blade spins freely.
For model number ET20DKXAN00

Hi Craig, thank you for your question. I would suggest pulling your appliance out and checking that the condenser coils are clean from any dust/debris. After cleaning the coils if they are dirty you still have this issue. I would suggest then looking at your condenser fan and motor. You will want to make sure the fan blades are clean and you will want to make sure the motor is working properly. Good luck with your repair.

Unit very noisy and freezer too warm
First I removed the racks in the freezer. The rack supports on the sides lift off without tools. The evaporator cover is at the back of the freezer. 4 phillips head screws. The cover lifts up then forward to expose the evaporator, evaporator fan and duct. The duct is held by 3 hex head screws. The evaporator fan is attached to the duct with a wiring pigtail to a plug. Unplug the fan and remove the duct. The fan is held by 2 hexhead screws. The new fan is put in place and assembly is simply the reverse of disassembly. The unit is quiet and cools properly now. The new part fit perfectly.

Evaporator Fan had quit running
After unplugging the fridge, I removed all the phillips head screws from the evaporator fan housing as well as the back cover and the bottom of the freezer compartment (7) in all. After first removing the bottom cover - then the back cover I could access the evaporator fan unit. This was held in place with two hex-head screws that were easily removed with a nut driver. Then after unplugging the Red, White, and Green wires from the fan I removed it and replaced it with the new one. I did have to break off the two ends of the mounting bracket as described in the instruction sheet since it was too wide. Repeating the above steps in reverse, I had the job done and refridgerator up and running as quiet as could be in less than 15 minutes.

Squealing evaporator fan
Unplugged the fridge, emptied the freezer, removed the panel screws, removed the fan assembly retaining nuts, slid the spade wire connectors from the tabs, and performed these tasks in reverse to have the fridge up and running like new. I am not an appliance repair person, but I am not intimidated by simple repairs. Your instructions were easy to follow, and the cry in the kitchen of "we need a new refrigerator" was silenced for less than $50.00. Thanks!

Freezer making loud whining noise-Fridge not cooling well
Removed the 3 screws in the back of the freezer, pulled back the metal back plate on the freezer. Removed 4 nuts on the plastic housing that holds the fan and pulled the housing down. Disconnected the wires, unscrewed the 2 screws holding the fan to the housing. Replaced old fan motor with new fan motor onto housing just as it was before. Reconnected the wires. And tested the motor. Worked great. Re-assembled everything as it was and it was done.

Was not an easy replacement.
Was not an easy replacement as it did not fit without being highly modified.
#1 -The motor was rivieted together and had to be drilled out and replaced in order to attach
mounting brackets.
#2 - The wire terminals were on the top back of the new motor instead of the front and required
extending wiring from refrigerator cable wires 4 inches to connect to the new motor.

worked well
It was the correct part, however the brackets in the picture of the parts were not included. No big deal, I will use the old ones. Again, no big deal, but I had to "split" the motor to instal the brackets. All in all it worked well and I was pleased.

Easy fix
Part works great...took longer getting the old one out! If yours is making a racket and not cooling this will fix it...and it will keep things super COLD! You may have to dial the thermostat back also...the new one cranks the cold air! Easy cheap fix from parts select! Great purchase!

You don't pay for what you do, you pay for what you know how to do.
The pictured part, showed the bracket WITH THE EVAP MOTO, ATTACHED, INCORRECT. THE OLD FAN MOTOR HAD TO BE DISASSEMBLED. BEFORE BEING REASSEMBLED. WITH THE NEW FAN MOTOR. NEW PART, PICTURED AS COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED, IS NOT CORRECT. AFTER DISASSEMBLING BURNT OUT MOTOR, AND REASSEMBLING WITH OLD BRACKET, RE INSTALLED, AND THEN INSTALLED IN FRIDGE, IT IS BACK TO WORKING LIKE IT SHOULD.
