Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
The door lock assembly is a part for your washing machine and tells the washer that the door is closed and locked into place. If the switch has shorted out and not locking, it is no longer delivering the message to the machine and it will not latch into place. If you find that your door will not close, open, or start, it is more than likely an issue with the locker switch assembly. The switch is located behind the front panel. You will need to remove the gasket to reach the switch.

Washer wouldn't start when I closed the door. Door lock error code presented
Took the sealing ring off the gasket, unscrewed the door lock with two screws. Unplugged it. Plugged the new one in, screwed it back in. Put the ring back on and it started right up.

Door Lock Switch Replacement
The video from PartSelect showed removing the retaining ring from the rubber washer tub boot to then allow access the door lock located behind the boot for replacement. That ring can sometimes be a real pain to put back on. This can be avoided altogether!

Remove the top cover and you can then reach down to remove the wiring connector, unscrew the two phillips screws on the front of the door latch and remove the door lock. Put the new switch on in reverse order; plug in the connector, replace all screws and the top cover, and you are done! This method took than 10 minutes from start to finish.
Please note that the washer should be unplugged from power while working on any electrical component.

Power won't stay on, if I unplug and plug back in, press start the power comes on for a few seconds then cuts out. The main board led light is on when power is working. I just replaced the user control board and that allowed it to work for about a day and now the same issue. I noticed last night that the door lock was having issues. When I finally close the door tight and push hard on it to confirm it was closed I got the washer to power up again and run a short cycle. My questions is can a door lock issue cause the power to shut off or do you think its the main board? I just want to order the right part.

Hello. So i just bought a used LG front loader washer. I was told it has not been used for a couple of years but did when it was last used, i got it home and went to use it and the door clicked twice and a de error code appeared. I unplugged it and held the start button for 5 seconds and tried again and the same thing happened. From what i read i think it is the door lock switch but one of the questions you answered said it could be a magnet. I was not sure if the magnet is part of the door switch or if you think it may be something entirely different? Thanks for your help.

Door to washer was pushed past regular open angle. Now the door will shut but the “de” error appears and machine will not work. What part will fix the problem?

Hello Cindy, thank you for your question. Yes, the DE error code in in relation to the door lock. We would recommend making sure the door hinges are not bent or warped and the door shuts evenly into the unit. If the DE code continues replacing the lock should fix the issue. I hope this helps!

My washer won't go into spin cycle and gives a de code. Could this be the door lock actuator? (switch-assembly-locker)

Thank you for your question. If your washer is giving you a DE error code, it is letting you know that the door is still open. This is not the case. There is a magnet on the door that has come off and you will either to put it back on or purchase a new one. Please consult your owner's manual for further information. I hope this helps. My washer will not light up or start until I unplug it, then it works in a complete cycle. No error code displayed. From other sites it sounds like the computer board, so does that sound like that is it if it will keep working just by unplugging?

Our front load washing machine will not start. When plugged in to the electric outlet the start panel will not light up. LG recommended enhance appliance service and the repair man said it was the filter board, but that did not start the machine. Could it be the door latch is faulty so the machine power won't come on? We often had an error message for the door but there didn't seem to be any reason for the message.

Hi there. Our lg washer will start a wash cycle but many times it will throw a DE error part ways through. We can always get it to start again by powering off/on. Seems to happen more with heavy loads. Would this be the lock or something else?

Hello Francis, thank you for writing. The LG front-load washer displays a DE error code during the wash, rinse or spin cycles, indicating that the door hasn't been locked properly. Here is what to do. Press POWER to turn the washer off. Unplug the washer from the power outlet or turn the circuit breaker to the unit off. With the power disabled, press and hold the START/PAUSE button for 5 seconds. Plug the washer back in, or turn the circuit breaker back on. We hope this helps.
