Manufacturer Part Number 6931EL3003D

Manufactured by LG

This thermal fuse acts as a high-limit thermostat, and shuts off the heating element when the dryer overheats by cutting off power to the dryer. If the thermal fuse has blown, the dryer will not start. These fuses cannot be reset, so if yours has blown, you will need to replace it. A common reason for the thermal fuse to blow on a dryer is if the exhaust vent on your dryer is restricted or blocked. Hot air will be confined in the dryer and the fuse will trip and stop the electricity from flowing to the gas valve or heating element.

This part works with the following brands: LG, Kenmore, General Electric

This part works with the following products: Dryer

This part fixes the following symptoms: No heat or not enough heat | Will Not Start

On my LG electric dryer my cooling light stays on. The dryer runs but will not heat up? What could the problem be?

Miriam for model number DLE2250W
April 16, 2018
Answer:

Hi Miriam, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Thermistor,PartSelect Number: PS3529026. When testing you will test for resistance. At 70 degrees the resistance should be 9.3K ohms, 90 degrees would be 7.7K ohms. at 100 degrees it should be 6.2K ohms, 120 degrees 4.3K ohms. If the thermistor reads outside of range then it needs replaced. Hope this helps!

Hello Tony, Thank you for your inquiry. That is correct. Lint buildup can cause the dryer to overheat and blow the thermal fuse. You should also check the high limit thermostat as well. Hope this helps!

Question:

Victor for model number PS3530485??)
February 3, 2018
Answer:

Hello Victor, Thank you for your inquiry. Both this part and the high limit thermostat are located next to each other on the heater assembly, near the front of the drum. You can remove the top panel of the dryer and try to reach down past the drum to get to the element. If you cannot reach it, you would then need to remove the drum and front panel of the dryer. Hope this helps!

Question:

Thermal fuse blows repeatedly. Vent is completely clear and flowing. Does not appear to get too hot, just normal temp.

Scott for model number DLE2301R
November 2, 2017
Answer:

Hi Scott, Thank you for your question. It is likely that you will have to replace the high limit thermostat on your heating element. That is more than likely the part that has failed, which would make your thermal fuse continuously fail. I would suggest testing it with a multi meter to double check. You can also test your heating element as well. Set your meter to the lowest setting. They both should read zero or close to zero. If your meter does not change at all, that means the part needs to be replaced. Good luck with your repair.

Will a blown thermal fuse keep power from going to start switches and display panel?

Mike for model number Dle2516w

Answer:

Hello Mike, thank you for your question. Yes, this part can cause the unit to not start, but it shouldn't cause the control panel to go out and lose power. You can test the fuse with a multi meter to see if it has failed. When tested the part should read zero or close to zero when tested. I hope this helps!

Suzanne for model number Dle2514w
November 6, 2018
Answer:

Hello Suzanne, Thank you for the question. This sounds like an issue most likely caused by a defective timer. The timer for this model number is built into the control board, PartSelect Number PS3529893 so the board will need to be replaced. I looked up the part and it is listed as No Longer Available/Discontinued. There is no part substitutions listed. My suggestion here would be to call the manufacturer and see if they can provide you with a substitution for these part numbers. Hope this helps!

Hi Miriam, Thank you for your question. There are a few parts that you will want to check. You should take a look at your thermostats and your thermal fuses. Those might be the most likely parts causing your issue. You can test those parts with a multi meter. They should read 0 ohms to be working correctly. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

Is there a way I could figure out which part needs replacement before disassembling the dryer? I have a house full of children and don't want to end up losing screws and parts of the dryer while waiting for a shipment to come in. Dryer spins but there is zero heat. Looks like according to your website that the three most common problems are the thermal fuse, thermistor, ntc, or the thermostat. I'd like to hopefully figure out which one it would be without complete disassembly, and without ordering every part, unless they often go out around the same time.

It takes about two hrs. To dry a normal load of clothes. Checked vent lines and filter all are clear. Actually been like this for several years. Looking for any ideas you might have. Thanks!

Robert for model number DLE8377WM
February 26, 2018
Answer:

Hi Robert, Thank you for the question. There are a few parts you can check. There is the sensor, PartSelect Number PS3529161.The sensor controls the temperature in your dryer and will turn off once your clothes have reached the desired dryness level. If you notice that your dryer is not giving off enough heat to dry the clothes or is taking too long to dry, this may indicate that a repair to the senor is required. You can also check the Thermistor, PartSelect Number PS3529026.This dryer thermistor temperature sensor helps monitor and regulate the temperature inside a dryer. Hope this helps!

Question:

My dryer would not finish the drying cycle, and also the check filter light came on. I checked the filter and it was clean. When the door was closed the dryer would not quit spinning and would quit only when the door was open. It ran even when the power button was off. I checked the air flow and it seemed robust. I powered it down at the breaker and did the reset option. Now the dryer will not come on at all. It is completely dead. Can you help?

Harry for model number DLE1101W
January 22, 2018
Answer:

Hello Harry, Thanks for your question. You may be having an issue with the door switch. Test it with a multimeter to see if it has continuity and replace it if it shows no continuity. It would also be a good idea to test both of the thermostats and the thermal fuse in the machine to see if they are faulty or not. I hope this helps.
