Are both valves equal? I found contradictory documentation in the service manual on which is valve 1 & valve 2. It says valve 1 is supposed to open and remain open while valve 2 is only supposed to open after ignition. We have a complaint that you smell gas outside where the dryer vents to when it starts up. It might just be designed this way because valve 1 opens with the fan running before the igniter is lit. I've tried swapping the wires to the 2 valves, and it seems to work exactly the same, which is surprising. So do both valves work independently and deliver the same amount? Are there specs for the valves somewhere?
For model number LG TROMM Dryer DLG8388NM
Hi Devin,
Thank you for your question. The gas valve listed under your model number is a two-stage valve. If your igniter is working, then the dryer will work correctly and your clothes will dry. If there is a gas smell coming from your dryer, then the igniter is not lighting on the first or second try. It may be either weak or not working at all and it will need to be replaced. The part number listed under your model number for the igniter is PS3527801. Here is how the ignition system works in your dryer. Valve one will open when the igniter turns on and once the igniter reaches 370°F, the igniter will shut off and valve 2 will open. If ignition does not occur, the flame sensor will close valve 2 and restart the ignition sequence. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Gas Valve: is there a way to test it before I order a new gas valve
For model number DLG2525S
Hello Isidro, Thank you for the question. The gas valve can be tested for resistance from the main control at the connection BL3. From the red wire to the pink wire, the resistance should measure 1.5KO. From the red wire to the white wire, the resistance should measure between 1.5KO to 2.5KO. If the coils do not test within range, the gas valve would need to be replaced. We hope this helps!

I have replace two senior now but no heat. The glow coil works but no ignition. Do you think I should replace the gas valve coils. How should I test them to see if that is it.
For model number Dlg8388wm
Hi Jerry,
Thank you for your question. If you have replaced the 2 sensors and the dryer will still not heat, there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the blower thermostat, the high limit thermostats and the gas igniter. We have included a link that you may reference on how to check these parts and some other parts as well. Once you have determined the part you need, please feel free to call customer service. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!
The flame ignites, but the flame doesn't travel through the burner tube. It just sits at the orifice and burns the burner tube until an awful smell starts. I have tested and replaced all sensors and gas assembly. I'm at an elevation of 2700', is that the issue, or can I adjust the gas valve assembly for more pressure?
For model number DLGX3371V
Hello Jared, thank you for reaching out. Another potential issue could be gas pressure. If the pressure is too low, it might not be sufficient to push the flame through the burner tube. Conversely, if it is too high, it could lead to other problems. Adjusting the gas valve assembly might be necessary. Poor ventilation can also affect combustion. Ensure that there is proper airflow around the burner and that any vents are clear of obstructions. If this does not help, we would recommend replacing the gas valve assembly, part number PS3527449. Good luck with your repair!
