If there is little to no tension holding your ice door seal in place, the spring may be faulty. This spring is approximately 1-inch long. Ice chute door would open ok, but would not close unless you stuck your finger up inside and closed it.
Found a LG parts video and followed each step. Simple except getting the end of rod into the solenoid arm. Took a few tries, but got it.
