This is an OEM cylinder and piston kit that includes the piston pin, piston, cylinder, 2 spring rings, and 2 isolating washers. Located inside the small engine of your chainsaw, the cylinder is the space in which the piston travels. When a small engine has not been used or maintained properly, the piston is what tends to get damaged. If you are running the engine on fuel only, this can damage the piston. Without the lubrication of oil, the piston can seize to the wall of the cylinder. A dirty filter can also cause damage to the piston. Dirt and residue from a leaking filter can clog the space between the piston and cylinder, causing wear on the piston skirt. If left, this damage can worsen and lead to the piston breaking. The piston can also get damaged if the engine over-speeds or over-heats. If you suspect your cylinder and piston are damaged, they will need to replaced right away.
