How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Controller fails to hold a constant heating element tempature
The replacement of this part is simple enough, out with the old, in with the new. At issue here is the way the controller fails. The heating element goes to the highest temperature. The original controller on this Kenmore oven failed after about two years and the first replacement that I got from you lasted about a year and a half. T
... Read morehe defective controllers seem to be working properly once the controller has been turned off and then restarted, but the frequency of failure increases with time until you hardly dare to step away from the oven. This controller should open on failyor, not close.

Hie, my front righthand side 8 inches element over heats. The element seams to be in good shape, it has 30 ohms resistance. I beleive it could be the control that is the problem because it has black soot inside its upper chamber. This control has been changed around 4 years ago and i rebember that the part i was given at that time had a different part number then the original control. I was told it was the equivalent part. The pn of this control is 318293811. Do you think it is the part i should order or do you have another part to propose me. Thanks for your help and have a good day. Alain
For model number Kenmore C970-555622
Hello Alain, thank you for your question. From what you're describing the issue is with the control. Especially since you noticed black soot inside its upper chamber. I would recommend replacing the switch itself. I hope this helps!
