This burner knob, also referred to as a control knob, is a genuine OEM replacement part that is designed for cooktops. It is grey in color and made of highly durable plastic. The knob allows you to control the amount of heat produced by the corresponding burner. Turning the knob clockwise increase the heat produced while turning it counterclockwise reduces the heat. No mounting hardware is necessary for this repair, simply pull off the faulty knob and push the new one into place.

Was so glad to find the replacement for our stove. It is several years old and quickly learned you can not get anything hot near the knobs as the plastic will melt the silver color off showing the light plastic below. Not a good design for the knobs near hot pans etc.
I now have to order another because the same thing is happening to another top knob. Lower knobs seem to do better on the front of the stove design and placement of the knobs. Steel would have been a much better design choice. However, Love my stove top and was glad to be able to find replacements.

Hi! GE cooktop. I have never seen a dumber design than a cooktop where the (plastic) knobs sit higher than the /grills/grates. The minute you slide a pan over the knobs (which is invariably), they melt. What gives? Any solution?
