Hi John, Thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet or turn the circuit breaker off. To begin the repair, you will need to remove both the burner grates as well as the surface burners and caps. Once you have done this, you will need to remove the screws securing the burner tube assemblies to the cooktop. Once you have your burner tubes disconnected from the cooktop, you can use a flathead screwdriver to pry each up each side of the cooktop. There is a release clip that you may release and then you can lift the cooktop up. Once you have lifted the cooktop, use something to support it. To disconnect the existing surface igniter, you will need to trace the wire connected to it back to the spark module and unplug it. Once you have followed the wire back to the spark module, remove the shield so that it is out of the way, disconnect the wire and pull it out. With the wire disconnected from the spark module, push up on the igniter from the bottom and release it from the clip. Once you have done this, pull the wire out. To install the new wire, feed the wire through the hole and connect it to the spark module and secure the surface igniter in place. Follow the steps in reverse to complete the repair.
