Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This charcoal odor filter is designed for use in over-the-range microwave hoods operating in recirculating (non-ducted) mode, where it helps trap grease and neutralize cooking odors before air is returned to the kitchen. The activated charcoal material absorbs smoke and food odors generated during everyday cooking, supporting a cleaner, fresher environment when external venting is not available. Because the filter is not washable, periodic replacement is necessary to maintain effective odor control and airflow performance. Replacing the filter at regular intervals helps ensure consistent ventilation efficiency, reduces lingering smells, and supports proper operation of the microwave’s exhaust system.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Microwave Charcoal Filter purchase
Excellent customer service was able to find the charcoal filters for my microwave when several local distributors were not. Ordered two (1 spare) and they arrived when expected. It took only a matter of minutes using PartSelect vs. trying to find what I needed locally.

After spending a good amount of time on the computer trying to find a replacement for the charcoal filter I went back to the store where I purchased the microwave. The employee at the store was very helpful and found your web site where I could order my part. When I received the part, it was an exact duplicate of the part I wanted to replace. I will be ordering again as the filter needs to be changed out every 6 months..

This Whirlpool overhead microwave contains a thin aluminum grease filter. It is a new unit, installed in the past year. Because my microwave is not vented to the outside, I would now like to retrofit a charcoal filter onto this unit. Is this possible? If so, what are the filter number and the EXACT dimensions (length, width, depth) of the charcoal filter you advertise as an after-market filter that is fully compatible with this model Whirlpool microwave? Specifications, please.
For model number WMH31017HZ08
Hi David, thank you for reaching out. The compatible charcoal filter for your model is part number PS11769323. It is 5 5-7/16 by 3-1/4 inches. To retrofit, remove 2 screws on the vent grille, slide the vent grille to the left, tilt it forward, lift it out, and remove the filter. Place the filter into its 2-hook area with the wire mesh side to the front. Replace the vent grille by inserting the 3 bottom latch hooks of the vent grille into the front holes, tilt the vent grille backward, slide it to the right, and secure it with screws. We hope this helps!

how to replace charcoal filter
For model number AMV2307PFS4
Hi Thomas,
Thank you for your question. The charcoal filter is located behind the vent grille at the top front of the microwave. To access the charcoal filter, unthread the 2 screws securing the grille to the microwave. Then tilt the grille forward and lift it out. Then remove the old filter and insert the new filter. When inserting the new filter, make sure that the wire mesh side of the filter is facing up. Then position the grille and secure it with the screws. We hope this helps!
