Hello David, thank you for contacting us. This may be due to delayed ignition, where a greater-than-normal amount of gas is present when the burner gets sparked. When the gas hasn't been used for a long time, the moment you turn the gas button on, there is what looks like a higher pressure wave that comes with a large flame, and a sound when the gas ignites. We would suggest checking the Pressure Regulator, part number PS12070643, and the Ignitor, part number PS11754239. We hope this solves your problem!
