How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Difficult Installation
I ordered the left and right springs to install even though only the right spring broke. The bags for each spring are not labeled for which side of the door each spring belongs; hence, one has to guess which side is in the bag.
The installation of the springs is not easy; quite a few screws to remove and install which are very easy to be mishandled. Fortunately, the YouTube videos are of great help.

Right Torsion Spring broke at an elbow.
Watched a U-Tube video that was helpful but did not address how fragile the plastic door frame was that the exterior glass front sat in / mounted to. The plastic door frame holes did not have metal inserts and plastic door holes were enlarged/stripped. Had to use larger screws. Also the plastic door frame was fragile and cracked in a coup

This was the 3rd time that our microwave door springs broke. Was tired of paying $100s to local appliance repair companies. Keep in mind that the form factor of the springs are not the coil type but rather straight rods in design, slightly short of the width of the microwave door. STEP 1 - remove the two (2) screws from the upper rea

STEP 2 - remove the black lower (plastic) vent cover located directly below the microwave door (4 screws). STEP 3 - remove the black plastic inner unit that surrounds the inner microwave door glass (there are 2 screws at the bottom). STEP 4 - Once this part is removed you will see two (2) horizontal springs that crisscross at the bottom of the microwave door. Take a photo of the spring positions for reference. STEP 5 - remove the broken springs, replace with your new springs and reassemble in reverse order.
In another post it recommends replacing both right and left torsion bars. I took that advice and when it was taken apart it was apparent there had been stress put on the left hand spring, so glad I bought both. When the torsion bars arrived do not be alarmed one (right) is a much larger diameter than the left, went together easily. I thou

Read moreght taking the plastic guard off between the oven and the microwave first allowed me to see how the springs were installed and then I just kept all the screws separate to install back the way it came apart. Another set of hands did make this a much easier job. when you reinstall the bars it seems really tight but after putting the door back on and after opening a dozen times it feels like new again.
All screws easily accessible except for one on bottom of door. It was tough to remove, even tougher to reinstall. Took some time and a unique combination of patience and small tools.
My biggest problem was getting parts. I ordered what was shown in the exploded view - a spring. I received one spring. When I took the door a

It would be good if the exploded view showed both springs. It would be better if the part number would just include both springs. Come on, handling, packaging and shipping costs more than these simple springs. If one spring breaks there's a chance the other is about to go. Shipping the pair to customers so we can replace both just makes sense to me. MSW

The m/w door springs are shot.I assume there are two springs.I only see you have one torsion spring listed and it's for the left side. How about the right side spring? Also, do you have a video or other instruction on how to replace these springs?
For model number KEMC308KSS03
Hi Peter, Thank you for the question. The Right side is PartSelect Number PS11742586.Here is a repair story left by a previous customer. " For springs those can be replaced without removing the microwave from the cabinet. Remove the 2 screws that hold the door together accessed from the inside of the door at top. Pull door up to release from the clip at the bottom. Remove the broken spring and replace with new one. Use a screwdriver to help twist the torsion spring to clip into place. Replace door assy in reverse order." Hope this helps!
Is this the correct left side torsion spring for model kemc378kss04? There is another spring associated with this model number but the description says it's not for use on the stainless steel models. There is no reference to the correct part number that should be used.
