Timer switch bad on 11 yr old dryer
My switch part #3976197 has since been replaced by a different switch. The new switch had different and fewer terminals and no instructions on how to install with the 3 extra wires it left me hanging with. I had to return the switch. I also got one from another company and they sent the same replacement switch. I had to return that

Timer never advanced, kept ticking and stuck in the same spot, dryer DID heat
Replace timer. Remove back panel and the two screws attaching the old timer. Remove each wire from the old timer one at a time, noting where the wire it attached, and attach it to the same place on the new timer. You may need pliers to gently grip the wire base and pull. Timer quit working
Pulled back plate off dryer control center (six screws). Removed old timer (two screws). Placed new timer along side old one. Switched wires from old to new timer. Reinstalled new timer. Cleaned dryer with vacuum cleaner before placing back panel on. Easy to accomplish.

Dryer would not start
I ordered the timer at 11pm on Thursday and had it in my hand Saturday morning at 11am. 36 hrs delivery time is FANTASTIC as I only asked for standard 3-5 business day delivery.

Timer stopped working
Well I unplugged the dryer, then I removed all the screws off the back of the main console. After that I unscrewed the old timer. Then I one by one moved the wires from the old timer control to the new timer control. Then i screwed in the new timer control. After that I screwed the back plate for the main console back on. I also wanted to say that this experience with parts select was most amazing one too. I ordered the part one day with a 3 to 5 day delevery time. The following day I checked on the status and found out that the part would be here the next day so I was really amazed that it would be that quick. Whirlpool dryer model wed5200vq0, wife complains clothes taking too long to dry. Cleaned out dryer vent and all venting all the way out of the house. Removed back panel from dryer and checked the temperature selection switch with a mulitmeter. Temp selector switch working correctly. Low heat= 910 ohms medium heat= 5100 ohms high heat= open. Running a normal timed cycle on high heat, element comes on for 2 minutes, then off for 3 minutes. Runs this cycle fine. On low heat the element is on for 1 minute 45 seconds then off for almost 5 minutes. I think the dryer is operating correctly. Do these times sound consistent with how a dryer should work? Thanks

Thank you for your question. It does sound like it is working normally, but if the clothes are not drying you will need to check the thermal fuse, the thermal cut-off, the high limit thermostat, the belt, the door catch, the drum felt seal and the heating connection wire. WILL ONLY HEAT WHILE HOLDING CYCLE

Thank you for your question. If you are having to hold the start button, so the dryer can run, you may have a bad door latch. Check and see if the door is shutting correctly. If it is, you may have a faulty start switch, door switch, thermal fuse or an issue with the wiring. We have included a link that you may reference on how to check these parts. I checked all my thermostat fuses, all of them are good along with my start button. My timer is running - I can hear it ticking and moving. I can play with and let it sit there, it will start by itself in a few minutes and stop. It will run all the way to off. Then it will start back up. I can only get it to to start around cool down position, but I got it to run for three loads last night before it messed up again . Please tell me what it could be?

Thanks for your question. There are a few parts you will want to test with a multimeter to see if they have continuity. Replace them if they show no continuity. Check the internal-bias thermostat, the thermal cut-off kit, the high-limit thermostat, the door switch, and the drive motor. Only if all of those parts are all testing properly should you then consider the timer itself.

I've replaced all the thermostats, the heater coil, and the fuse and there's still no heat, timer isn't running either.

Hello Joshua, Thank you for the question. This could be an indication the Timer Switch is faulty. The Timer send power to the element to turn on and heat during the cycle.
