How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?

Dryer shuts off after opening dryer door like it should
Then will restart on its own after removing clothes without pressing start button
For model number 110.77632600
Hello Ted, thank you for your question. Based on your symptom it could have a stuck push to start switch or possibly a stuck contact inside the motor centrifugal switch. You can access the push the start switch and disconnect the wires from the push to start and then see if starts with the door shut when setting the timer. If it doesn't start, replace the push to start switch. If it does the switch on the motor is bad and the motor itself would have to be replaced. I hope this helps!

My starter switch has four prongs. Which do i check for continuity? The outer two or the inner two? My dryer won't start and was tripping my circuit breaker. I have check the door switch, the thermal fuse, the cycling thermostat, and recently replaced the start switch. Anything else i should check? Thanks.
For model number 110.77622600
Hi Darrel,
Thank you for your question. Locate your dryer's start switch. It will be located under the control console panel on top of your dryer. To gain access under the control panel, you will have to remove the screw(s) located at either end of the control panel. There may be a piece of trim, or an endcap over the screws you have to remove. Remove the trim (endcap) pieces first. Depending on your model, you will likely have to flip the console forward. It's a good idea to place a towel over the top of your dryer to protect its finish.
Label each of the two (sometimes there are three) wires leading to the start switch so that you will be able to correctly reattach them later. Using caution, remove the wires. They are connected with the use of metal slip-on connectors. Grasp the connectors and pull firmly from the connectors. Do not pull on the wires themselves. You may need to use a pair of needle nose pliers to help you.
Use your ohmmeter to test your switch for continuity. Begin by setting your ohmmeter to measure resistance at a scale of R x 1. If yours is a two-wire switch, touch one tester probe to each of the switch's terminals. You should receive a reading of infinity. While the probes are still touching the switch's terminals, press in on and hold the switch. The reading should change to zero.
If the test you conduct does not produce these results, you should replace the switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Dryer does not start. Is the push to start switch the only part to order?
For model number 110.76862500
Hi Larry, thank you for reaching out. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend checking the thermal fuse for continuity. If this is not the issue, we would suggest replacing the start switch, part number PS11741680, to solve the problem. It starts the dryer when you press and release the button. We hope this helps!
