Will not start at all
Followed the videos and it was simple. For me, the videos take all of the anxiety out of the job.
Ultimately it was the motor that failed, but replacing the start relay and thermal fuse was a simple task

The dryer would not turn on.
Disconnect the dryer from the outlet. Removed the upper back plate from the dryer with a 1\4 inch nutdriver. Removed the knob from the start switch. Disconnected the electrical connections from the back of the switch. Rotated the switch slightly clockwise to release the locking tab and removed the switch.
... Read more>To install the switch place the switch tab slightly to the right of the tab insert. Rotate the switch assembly counter clockwise until the locking tab locks in place. Reconnect the electrical connectors. Reinstall the back plate on the dryer Reinstall the knob onto the switch. Reconnect the dryer to the wall. The video on your website was extremely helpful. The is one of the best self help web sites I have ever used.

Very easy to access all 3 parts. Was using YouTube in conjunction with video installation. Bypassed door ajar switch which is readily available via video online.. ... Read moreine. Very simple to test almost all other parts if you have a volt meter to check resistance. There was too many prongs to test pushbutton start switch so I ordered one and a thermostat. Parts arrived in a few days. I also ordered a new door ajar switch incase one of the other reasonably priced parts fixed it. I first replaced the push start switch which was very easy. It did not fix my issue. So I than replaced the thermostat. Even though it was very uncommon to fail according to the %of people having that as a cure, it fixed mine. So since the start switch was not returnable because I opened bag and installed it, I left it in and saved the old one. Since it was fixed I went ahead and replaced the door ajar switch instead of leaving it Bypassed. All in all...took no more than 1 1/2 hours and that includes testing everything opening up everything and putting everything back together. Very easy.
It was as easy as 123 took off old part reconnected the wires put the srews on put the cover back and my dryer is working like new again thank you PartSelect for making my life a little easyer Anna Lavergne

unplug dryer pull off switch knob remove two screws at corners of control unit pull unit toward you to remove flip over and remove panel unscrew switch then twist switch to remove from face on control unit holding new switch next to old, remove wires from old switch and insert onto new switch place new

Replace bad timer
opened the back of the control panel, removed the timer. Looked for damage, saw none but replaced because it was not working. The wirers did not match up extact. But enough matched the wire and terminal code that the two left attached to the two remaining. After it was plugged back in and tryed it worked!

With the dryer plugged in and the switch and timer turned to on the dryer does not work. I hear a humming noise from the console and then i open the dryer door. The humming noise stops and then starts again when i close the dryer door. Does this prove that the door ajar switch is working as it should? I have tested the thermal fuses and they work fine.

Thank you for your question. If the dryer is not working, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the thermal fuse, the internal bias thermostat, the drive motor with pulley, the dryer door actuator spring/lever, the push-to-start switch, the door catch and the lid switch. The dryer quit starting. I can hit the switch and i hear it click but no start. Sounds like the start switch is working but it will not start. The timer works as well. Any thoughts?

Where does spring go on the inside of the on and off switch?
Hello William, That is a good question but unfortunately, we do not currently have installation instructions for the internal parts of the switch. My switch that went out also buzzed when the cycle was done. Will this replacement switch still have it buzz?

Hello Mary, thank you for your question. The buzzer is a separate part. It is PartSelect Number: PS11743788. If the start switch is the only part that has failed, the buzzer will not have to be replaced. I hope this helps!

How can I know if the start switch is what's wrong with the dryer?

Hi Hector, thank you for contacting us. Check the push-to-start switch, part number PS11741493, for damages or burnouts. If there are none, do a continuity test using a multimeter. The resistance value should be close to 0 for a working infinity switch. Please submit a new question if you have any follow-ups.

Timer stuck at cooling down(20min) and will not shut off. Also, when manual shut off switch is pressed, the dryer will not turn off. It does turn on with manual press button. The dryer does turn off when the door is opened. It does have heat and works fine. Replaced the following and still the same problem: Thermostat, internal-bias

My dryer does not start. I checked the push to start switch with my VOM. I get continuity when I connect to the top and bottom terminals and zero current when I connect the middle terminal and either the top or bottom terminal. Is my push to start switch working properly? If it is what else should I check? Thanks

Hello Robert, thank you for reaching out. We have found that if you touch the common terminal and the open terminal and the meter reading shows zero ohms of resistance, the switch has continuity. If the needle does not move or the digital display does not change significantly, there is no continuity, which means the switch is defective. If the push-to-start switch is showing continuity, then we would recommend checking the door switch, part number PS11741701, to fix the issue. We hope this sorts out your problem!
I have a Roper dryer. Dryer was going opened the door to throw another shirt in and would start back. The push to start button does not click anymore. Do you think that is the problem and does part # 3398095 work for this dryer? Thank you
