The front burner on the left side is always red hot even when it's on 3. Not sure which part i need. Googled it and was told it's the infinite switch? Would that be the correct part to fix the issue?
For model number Aer5830vaw
Hi Tina, Thank you for the question. I suggest replacing the switch that controls the burner.Surface Burner Element Switch - 8",PartSelect Number PS11740783.The element switch controls the heat of the surface burner. Disconnect power to your range before completing this repair because you will be working closely with electrical circuits. Remove the screws from back panel and the console, and remove the console to expose the switch. It is recommended to check for overheating or arcing on the wiring harness in case they need to be replaced as well. The harness that connects to the switch features a slip-on terminal for easy installation. Good luck with the repair !

The front burner on the left side and the back burner on the right side are turning to high even when they are on the low setting. According to your site it would be an infinite switch for each, but i am not sure which burner switches i need as both burners seem to be 8''. The part number that shows up on your site is for a 6'' burner ps11740774. Please advise. Thank you

8" burner heats to maximum (redhot) even when the selector is placed to the "5" number position which is medium heat. Is this a problem in the burner or the selector switch?
For model number RF367LXKQ
Hi Charles,
That is a good question. I believe that it would be a problem with the element, however I would suggest testing both the element and the switch with a multi-meter to see which one is malfunctioning. Both the switch and the element could cause an issue like that so it is best to test both. Good luck with your repair!

Cooktop on and cooktop hot indicator lights stayed on.
Range surface element control switch was bad. Replaced the switch and every thing works fine. Removed two Philips head screws in front and two Philips head screws in back of the range. Pulled the front panel away from the back of the range with the power off of course. Unplugged the wires and removed the two screws that held the switch in. Replaced the switch and refastened the control panel. Tested the switch and every thing worked fine.

Worked as advertised for 17yo whirlpool
This was an easy 'plug and play' repair for a nonfunctional surface heating element. Only tricky thing was matching the amperage range with element power. Both the 1200w and 1800w switches are listed for 6" elements. On the whirlpool gr445lxms, this is the correct switch for the front right 8'" /1800w element.
