The bake element in your oven is the part that provides heat when cooking. If your oven is too hot, or not hot enough, or does not heat evenly, you may need to replace the bake element. This part is 2600 Watts and 240 Volts. It is a closed hinged style bake element which is 15-3/4 inches long and 16-5/8 inches wide. The terminal depth is three inches and they are 1-3/4 inches apart. This part is made of metal and is black in color. Be sure to disconnect power to the oven before completing this repair.

The element caught fire,(not bad) we do not have the manual, and need to replace this. Can you provide instructions on replacing this?
For model number rs596pxx8
Hi Mary Ann,
Thank you for your inquiry. There is a repair story that a customer has shared with us that help you. "First I cut off the power to the stove and double-checked to make sure no current was flowing to the unit. There were two screws attaching the bake element plate to the oven. I unscrewed the two screws and carefully pulled the bake element away from the oven exposing the contact wires. I carefully loosened the wire contacts from the bake element, slid the bake element off the contacts and then slid the new bake element onto the wire contacts. I gently clamped the contacts onto the bake element, pushed the wires back into the back of the oven and screwed back the bake element plate onto the interior of the oven. I turned on the power to test my work and I was done." I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Oven in bake mode. Seems to be burning everything. Was baking cookies, and place the cookies in the oven. Directions said bake for 10 to 12 minutes, and in 4 to 5 minutes they were black. Why is this doing this?
For model number RF302BXYW ECN 2
Hi Darren, thank you for your question. It seems like it may be your temperature sensor that may need to be replaced. You can test that part with a multi meter to be sure. It should be reading between 1000 - 1100 ohms. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

This is the model number of a 27-year-old baking element in a Whirlpool. Not quite the same number (all same until the very end.) Will it work?
For model number RF365BXP
Hello Deborah,
Thanks for your question. Yes, this bake element is guaranteed to fit your partial model number. Please note it is the 240 volt bake element. If you need the 208 volt bake element instead, that will be part number PS11740747.
I hope this helps.
Oven stop working and would not heat. Turn off power and then turn on again. The buttons on the panel will not work seems to in a jam mood following a beeping sound. Clear turn off the power once again and try to turn on the oven all buttons work but will go straight to be on with no heat. Usually the pre-heat button will buzz follow by the buzzing sound to let you know the oven is ready. Now i don’t have any heat to it. What could be the problem? I replaced the top elements before could it be the bottom is bad? Never replace it before. Thanks for your help.

oven wouldn't heat
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires, then removed element and replaced with new .
I got the model number and ordered a replacement element from partselect, was shipped quickly and I installed it in about 30 minutes, it now works great

Removed the two screws holding the heating element to the back of the oven. Pulled the wires away from the connections of the old element and connected the new element. Reinstalled the screws holding the element to the back of the oven. Easiest repair I've ever done! Replaced the drip pans on the cook top and installed the new clock knobs. Good as new!

Uneven heating, red spot on element
First, I removed the two screws that held the old element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires This was challenging; the element uses blade connectors that are difficult to grab, and I didn't want to damage the connectors with pliers. Strenuous wiggling eventually worked. After that, I just reconnected the blade connectors to the new element, pushed the wires back in, and tightened the two screws.
It was fortunate that I saw a red spot on the element. When I removed it, I noticed a hole had been eaten part way through the old element. I was probably weeks away from a fire.

Bake Element Burned Out
Replacement was relatively easy. Oven door was pulled off hinges after removing 2 mounting screws nearest the hinges. After shutting off power at the breaker, screws (2 each) holding elements were removed. Elements were pulled into oven ~ 4 inches exposing wiring and clips. The clips pulled free with just a little wiggling by hand and were easily pushed back on by hand. Then reverse to finish.
After shutting off the power, I removed the door and oven racks. Then, by using a screwdriver, I removed each element one at a time and replaced with the new element. Each element pulled away from the back wall and was connected electrically by Sta-Kon connectors. All went well, and the unit was operational in about 30 minutes. I still have to remove the oven from the wall to replaced the two door springs.
Disconnect spade lug connectors from old heating element.
Connected spade lug connectors to new heating element.
Reinstall 2 screws holding element.....
Replace oven racks.
Turn Breakers back On.
Done 10 Min. Install

Heating Element broken
My husband wanted me to call a repair man but I had read online how easy it was. I received my element in one day from Fresno, CA and followed the instructions given by others on line. I couldn't believe how easy it was. The most difficult was removing the connectors because they were stuck. I used needle nose pliers as someone suggested. Saved the cost of a repair man.

Great part poor delivery
The bake element is great. It is working fine. I did have a problem with the delivery. Fed-ex delivered the part to the wrong house. I finally had to order another part. I did receive credit for the lost part. but I am NOT happy with Fed Ex.
