Machine wasn't draining water and moving though wash cycles correctly
Fortunately my uncle is handy and opened the top panel where the buttons are and figured out the timer was the problem...some of the metal teeth that move the cycles through were worn down and one was broken. I looked on line and through picture diagrams saw that the part was sold and ordered it! He exchanged it and machine works like new!!!! We had been machine shopping and I had been reading with dismay the horrible reviews of new washers that don't clean clothes and don't fill up with water so was so so happy that we are able to salvage the machine hopefully a few more years since it has a new motor from prior Sears repair.

Not doing the last rinsing cycle. leaving the water in.
took apart the timmer button.I have to take apart the top part where all the button controls are and unplug the timer off and replaced it with the new one. After that everything works perfect I bought the water pump before but that wasn't the problem.

Wash wouldn't advance through its cycles.
It was basically a plug-in. modular job, since the timer unit is all of one piece. Not brain surgery.

For model number MAV6451AWW
PartSelect logo
Hi Bill, Thank you for your question. There is a video on our website that you can reference on how to remove/install the timer knob from your washer. The washer in the video may not show exactly like the one you have, but it will give you a general idea on how to install the part. Here is a link to the knob and the video, https://www.partselect.com/AdvancedModelSearch.aspx?ModelNum=MAV6451AWW&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
